In a new interview with People Magazine, Ree Drummond’s daughter, Alex Drummond Scott, is opening about her future. Particularly, Alex is opening up about whether or not Ree is eager to become a grandmother now that Alex and Mauricio are newly husband and wife.
Ree Drummond’s Daughter, Alex Drummond, Says She Is In ‘No Rush’ to Have Kids 8 Months After Getting Married
As Mamas Uncut previously reported, Alex and Mauricio exchanged vows eight months ago in May 2021. And while the couple is enjoying the married, Alex said she and Mauricio will begin starting a family on their own time.
“It’s kind of weird because I feel like I’ve gotten that question a lot and people have asked, ‘Oh, are your parents in a rush for you guys to have a baby and get grandchildren?’ But I really have felt no pressure from my parents to rush into that,” Alex explained to People.
“If anything, they’ve been like, ‘Take your time. Enjoy marriage. You guys are both still so young.’ I mean, we’re both 24. I think they had me when they were 28, and so they are like, ‘You can take your time. You don’t have to rush into the whole kid thing,” Alex added.
And while Ree might not be “dying to become a grandma yet,” should Alex become pregnant sooner rather than later, she knows her mom would be ecstatic! “I feel like our parents are in no rush to become grandparents, but also, I mean, I know they’d be so excited if we did, but I think we’re taking our time, not rushing into it, trying to enjoy being married for a little bit.”
Alex is perfectly fine setting a pace she and Mauricio are comfortable with. And why shouldn’t they? It is their life after all.
As Mamas Uncut previously reported, Ree was under fire recently after her fans called her cooking show unprofessional. Ree made the confession on Instagram along with a video of her younger daughter, Paige, and her son-in-law Mauricio fighting over who got the first taste of her newest dish.

Since the pandemic, Ree has enlisted the help of her children behind the camera so that she could continue producing her cooking show from her home kitchen. Along with that comes a first-hand look into what life is really like in the Drummond household.
And it looks like Mauricio fits right in. Alex and Mauricio have been together since their freshman year at Texas A&M. They became engaged in August 2020.
