Jenelle Evans’ husband, David Eason, will face no charges after he shot and killed the family dog, Nugget, in May. According to TMZ, the Columbus County Sheriff’s office claimed that halfway through their investigation into the shooting, Evans changed her story and told them it was actually a PR stunt. The “stunt” resulted in Evans and Eason losing custody of their daughter, Ensley, as well as Evans’ two sons from previous relationships for more than five weeks.
When the Sheriff’s office first responded to the 911 call, Evans told them that David took the dog outside and she heard a gunshot, though she didn’t actually see him shoot the dog. Several weeks later, the police said Evans changed her story and told them she hadn’t actually heard a gunshot and had no idea what happened to the dog. She also told them that she just wanted the whole thing to “go away.”
The police searched their home and did not find a gun or any evidence of an animal being shot. As a result of lack of evidence, as well as Evans’ change in story, they did not move forward with charging Eason.
Evans disputes the claims that she changed her story and told the cops it was all a PR stunt. She told The Hollywood Gossip that she never filed a report against Eason, never told anyone it was a PR stunt, and that she can’t remember hearing a gunshot. She claims the police investigation actually ended weeks ago. Evans told the outlet that she feels “very attacked and exploited for no reason.”
Whatever the truth, Evans and Eason have regained custody of Ensley, as well as Kaiser, 5. Jace, Evans’ eldest son, remains in the custody of Evans’ mom, Barbara. Evans recently shared images of the reunited family enjoying time by the pool.
