Kimbereley Deakin, 29, was heard screaming for help on November 6, allegedly, as she fled from a stabbing at her home, before she collapsed in the middle of the street — clutching onto her 4-month-old baby.
The mother carried her 4-month-old daughter as she attempted to escape Lewis Crofts, 29, who allegedly attacked her.
Many neighbors revealed she was not widely known in the community.
Sarah Horvath revealed to the Sun how Deakin “only moved in a few months ago. I think she was pregnant when she moved in.”
“I know Kim has only been there for a few months,” next-door neighbor 77-year-old Ken Bradshaw agreed. Bradshaw said “the man” moved in just after the baby was born.
While it was not clear what the relationship was between Deakin and Crofts, it is known that Deakin was seen fleeing her home the afternoon of November 6 in a horrifying state.

“Apparently she ran across the road with the baby in her arms,” Horvath said. “Some people said she was covered in blood when she ran,” she continued. “It’s just terrible but thankfully the baby is fine and with relatives.”
The mom collapsed but when police arrived at about 4:45 p.m., she was rushed to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Crofts appeared November 9 at the North Staffordshire Justice Centre.
A press release from the Staffordshire Police Department on November 9 stated that Crofts was charged with murder and remained in police custody.

Deakin’s family spoke out via the press release.
“The family cannot express in words their sorrow and pain at losing their beloved Kim,” the press release shared. “She was kind, caring and loved by many. Kim had recently become an adoring mother to Ava and can never be replaced in our hearts. We would like to ask for privacy to be allowed to grieve in peace.”
An unnamed woman who lived near Deakin described her to the Sun as a “doting mum who really loved her baby girl.”
“You would see her smiling and talking to her,” the neighbor said. “She was obviously a very loving mum. It’s tragic and must be devastating for her family.”
