It’s okay for a father to kiss his son, and Twitter users are making that known after Newsmax TV host John Cardillo shared a photo of presidential candidate Joe Biden and his son, Hunter Biden.
Along with the black and white photo, which shows Hunter looking at the camera as Joe kisses him on the cheek, Cardillo wrote, “Does this look like an appropriate father/son interaction to you?”

People Back Joe Biden After He’s Criticized for Kissing His Son on the Cheek
People were quick to fire back at the host, who is known for publicly criticizing Biden, many saying they feel bad for Cardillo who didn’t have a good relationship with his father.
“Hunter has lost a mother, a sister, and a brother,” another Twitter user wrote. “His father is trying to make up for that lost love.”
After his first wife and their daughter passed away in 1972 following a fatal car accident, Biden raised Hunter and his son, Beau, who passed away in 2015 of brain cancer, on his own until 1977 when Joe married Jill.
Even those who aren’t fans of Biden stood up for him in this case. “Honestly man, I love on my kids constantly. There’s nothing wrong with physical affection from a parent to their child.”
“Hunter is the Bidens’ only living son. He’s, grateful to have him, to be able to hug him, kiss him., because he sure can’t show that love to the son he lost. If you have a son, I feel sorry for him…to have you as his father. He’ll most surely turn out like you.”
As the University of Texas reports, “Involved fatherhood is linked to better outcomes on nearly every measure of child wellbeing, from cognitive development and educational achievement to self-esteem and pro-social behavior.”
Sadly, Biden is far from the first public figure to get shamed for showing their children affection. From Tom Brady and David Beckham to Hilary Duff, all of them and more have been forced with defending how they show their child love.
