“Been waiting for this!!!” That’s what fellow actress Haylie Duff said in the comments section of actress Ashley Tisdale‘s pregnancy announcement. “Can’t wait! Best mama and papa combo!” Duff continued to add.
On September 17, Tisdale revealed that she is expecting her first child with her husband of six years, musician Christopher French. The couple did make a statement along with their announcement but rather opted for something simple, because as they say, a picture is worth a thousand words.

While dressed in a long white maxi dress, Tisdale is seen staring down at her growing baby bump as her husband and the soon-to-be father rested his forehead on his wife’s embracing the life they made together. Millions of their fans liked Tisdale and French’s announcement.
Along with Duff, several other of Tisdale’s famous friends left comments on the Instagram post. Friends like Tisdale’s High School Musical co-star, Vanessa Hudgens, who wrote, “Just the freaking cutest.” And friends, actresses Emma Roberts, who is also expecting her first child, and Lea Michele, who recently welcomed a baby boy into the world. “So happy for you babe! You’re going to be the best mama,” Michele wrote.
French expressed his excitement over becoming a father by sharing a photo of him and Tisdale on his own feed.
The couple also celebrated their six-year wedding anniversary in September as well. “Wow, I can’t believe we’ve been married 6 years?!! Time flies. I remember having so much fear the minute we got together because I couldn’t believe how good you treated me. I had never been treated that way. But I let go and trusted my heart and 8 months later we were a couple of crazy kids engaged,” Tisdale wrote in celebration of the love she has for her French.
“Chris you truly have made me a better version of myself because you keep inspiring me everyday. Your heart is pure, you would do anything to make me happy, through the ups and downs you are my solid rock. I’m so grateful I get to be your wife. I love you and after all this time I’m still into you…”
In a blog post on her website, Frenshe, Tisdale opened up about being pregnant and the road she and French took before growing their family. “Wow, it feels so good to finally share this news with you guys! Where do I even begin,” the actress wrote? “For YEARS it has been the question from everyone since I got married.”
Tisdale continued by admitting it was a question she hated being asked. “At first, I rebelled against it, and like clockwork, after I got engaged EVERYONE (and I mean everyone!) asked when I was getting married. Then, once I was married, everyone was asking when I was having kids. To be honest, it just felt invasive. I wasn’t ready for that step yet and I wanted to be selfish and have Chris all to myself for a while. Honestly, I wouldn’t have had it any other way.”
“As you know, going through my mental health journey, it wouldn’t have been the right timing for such a huge life change. I’m not naive about how a baby changes everything as I have a niece and plenty of friends with kids. I’m glad I worked on myself before we decided to make this decision. After six years of marriage, we built a strong foundation, and the timing just felt right. I gave it to God and the universe and honestly didn’t feel stressed about it and then it happened very quickly.”
As Tisdale admitted she has had her share of “highs and lows during quarantine and have to say I’m so grateful for this gift.” The actress went on to say that “it hasn’t been an easy first trimester, but everyone is different and I know there are people who’ve had it way worse.” She explained that it felt like she’s “had [the] stomach flu for three months (Lol!).”
She explained that the night before finding out they were watching Amy Schumer‘s HBO documentary Expecting Amy! “Finding out the next day was WILD after seeing that.”
“I’m excited about this new adventure, and I’m being very optimistic with every step. You know, as part of my non-toxic journey I’ll be researching so much and I’m also excited to learn from others as well. Chris and I are so excited and are fully embracing and celebrating this monumental moment. I love you guys and I’m so excited to have you part of this ride!”
Congratulations, Ashley Tisdale and Christopher French!
