Beyoncé and her daughter Blue Ivy Carter recently attended the third annual Wearable Art Gala in Santa Monica, and the queens of the jungle blew us away with their extravagant, Lion King-themed costumes.
The Gala, hosted by Beyoncé’s mom Tina Knowles Lawson, was themed “A Journey to the Pride Lands” in celebration of Disney’s upcoming “live-action” remake of The Lion King, in which Beyoncé voices the character of Nala. The evening was planned in anticipation of the film’s release (July 19). The film also features the voices of Donald Glover, James Earl Jones, and Seth Rogan.
Beyoncé Goes Full Lion King
Queen B shared highlights of the event with her closest 128 million Instagram fans, including shots of her incredible custom catsuit by Georges Hobeika. Scroll through the Instagram gallery embedded above for more on her look, plus a video of Blue Ivy singing along to “The Circle of Life.”
While we were in awe of the Homecoming star’s ensemble featuring dramatic feathers, a gold cape, and the face of a lion, we just can’t get enough of Blue Ivy’s singing in her cute costume. (Hey, she already technically dropped her first single, so maybe this is a permanent gig now?) Also on hand to celebrate were Destiny’s Child bandmates Michelle Williams and Kelly Rowland.
The Wearable Art Gala raised funds for Where Art Can Occur (WACO), a non-profit theater in Los Angeles founded by Tina Knowles and her husband Richard Lawson.
Stay tuned for more updates as we near the release of The Lion King starring Beyoncé. (We hope Blue Ivy at least has a cameo!)
