Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom recently welcomed a baby girl to this world. It’s the couple’s first child together and they reportedly had some disagreements about the right name for their daughter.
Us Weekly reports that the singer was fond of the name Daisy while Bloom was more attracted to the name Fiona. If you’ve been following the news of their birth announcement, you know that Katy “won the battle.”
Perry and Bloom announced the arrival of their daughter, Daisy Dove Bloom on August 26.
The news came via Unicef’s Instagram account and included a black and white photo of Perry and Bloom holding a baby’s hand.
“Welcome to the world, Daisy Dove Bloom!” the caption of the photo reads. “We are honoured to introduce Goodwill Ambassadors Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom’s new bundle of joy. ‘We are floating with love and wonder from the safe and healthy arrival of our daughter,’ Katy and Orlando told us.”
Apparently, it took some convincing on the part of Bloom who preferred Fiona.
“Katy won the battle over baby’s name,” a source revealed to Us Weekly. “She was pulling for the moniker Daisy, but Orlando liked Fiona.”
Evidently, the Carnival Row actor thought that Fiona “sounded good alongside” his and Miranda Kerr’s 9-year-old son, Flynn Christopher’s name. Thankfully, the one who carried and gave birth to the baby won out!
Rumors have been swirling about the couple’s inability to settle on a name for at least a month.
In early August, a source told Us Weekly that the couple still was “yet to agree” on a name. “She likes the name Daisy because daisies are her favorite flowers, simple, pure, and sunny,” the source said. “She is also fond of the name Grace Ann. Ann after her grandmother, whose name was Ann Pearl.”
The insider added that although Bloom was “also OK with honoring Katy’s late Grandma, he like[d] her middle name, Pearl.”
It’s no shock that a source would have knowledge of their name-choosing drama. The couple has been extremely open throughout the pregnancy about their journey. From the music video pregnancy announcement ten months ago to an intimate look at the pink nursery they’d prepared, fans were all given a lot of access.
“We have yet to decide specifically on her name because, I think, we’ve got options and she’ll tell us,” Perry shared on in June in an interview on Mix 104.1’s Karson & Kennedy. “I’ll look at her and go, ‘Oh yeah yeah, you are her, you are that.’“
We’re glad this couple finally settled on a name after weeks of disagreement. We’re rather fond of Daisy and it’s clear there are no hard feelings.
Just days after giving birth, Perry posted a meme about handing her baby “off to daddy” to release her upcoming album, Smile. In a hilarious Instagram post, the pop star teased Bloom and got fans primed for a new album. The image she used was of a woman throwing a baby to a man over a ravine.
“Me after feeding all day handing Daisy off to daddy bout to deliver this 2nd child,” the caption reads. “#SMILEISCOMING lezzgo.”

Orlando Bloom isn’t the only one won over by Ms. Daisy. Ex, Miranda Kerr had nothing but well wishes for the couple.
Kerr and Bloom were previously married from 2010-2013 and share a son, Flynn. “I’m so happy for you guys,” Kerr commented on Perry’s announcement. “Can’t wait to meet her.”
We’re glad all is well in Bloom-Perry world and that the fresh parents are enjoying the early days with their newborn. Choosing a name for a baby can be very tough, as any parent knows. Perry’s upcoming album includes a single entitled “Daisies” one of the lines from the chorus is “I’ll never let ’em change me, ‘Til they cover me in daisies,” so it seems like all the pieces are falling into place now.
