While we may catch some subtle shade at the playground for giving our tantruming kid a sugary snack, mom-shaming in the celebrity sphere is on a whole other level. These moms are constantly being put on blast for their parenting decisions by commenters with a disturbing rage that comes quick, hard, and non-stop. (Seriously, is being a celebrity mom-shamer a full-time job for these people?)
Whether you agree or not these celeb moms’ choices, you’ve got to admit that it must be tough dealing with all of the haters. We know how challenging this job is, and we find ourselves, more often than not, silently cheering when these stars clap back at the mom-shamers.
Amy Schumer
“Sending out love to the moms shaming me for doing standup last night!” – Amy Schumer
When this new mama took to the stand-up stage shortly after giving birth, the online community had something to say about it. We admire Amy’s determination to get back to work as well as her follow-up pumping photo, which she shared with love.
Chrissy Teigen
“I also picked the embryo with a taste for bacon, a knack for magic and size 7 feet so she can always find shoes.” – Chrissy Teigen
The unofficial Queen of Instagram has caught so much flack since becoming a parent of two. From choosing the gender of her child via IVF to dining out soon after having her baby, Chrissy has heard it all and is never one to back down from criticism.
Pink
“I like to share my family. It’s my proudest achievement in my whole life. I’m prouder of my kids than anything I’ve ever done. And I won’t share them anymore.” – Pink
Online shamers really turned up the heat when Pink posted a photo of herself making a meal with her kids Willow and Jameson. They claim she was putting her son in danger by having him too close to the stove… Then again when she had coffee… And again when she posted a photo of her littlest one without a swim diaper. The singer says she’s had had enough and has vowed to no longer shared photos of her kids online. This is why we can’t have nice things!
Kim Kardashian
“You be you and let me be me. I am a mother. I am a wife, a sister, a daughter, an entrepreneur and I am allowed to be sexy.” – Kim Kardashian
Known for her sexy selfies (and CBD-themed baby showers, and interesting baby name choices), Kim Kardashian is never one to shy away from good lighting. However, she definitely ruffled some feathers with her infamous naked snaps and had haters saying she was setting a poor example for daughter North.
Jessica Simpson
“We stood over her and placed her in that position for a picture only! Enjoy the preciousness!” – Jessica Simpson
It seems the fashion mogul and mom-of-three can’t catch a break when it comes to online hate from celebrity mom-shamers. From her daughter Maxwell wearing makeup to her son Ace playing roughly with a broken arm, everyone has something to say about Simpson’s parenting choices. (And let us not forget the breast milk debacle!) The latest kerfuffle came during the announcement of little Birdie Mae’s arrival, when online commenters were quick to point out she should be sleeping on her back. Guys, Simpson has raised two children already. Let’s just assume she knows what she’s doing.
Tess Holliday
“What I’ve had to be learn to be okay with (WHICH IS NOT COOL) is the fact that people still think it’s okay to comment on my body.” – Tess Holliday
Holliday constantly finds herself bombarded with “advice” from those who claim to be concerned with her health, especially while pregnant. Despite all of the noise, she continues to fiercely battle society’s unrealistic beauty standards by constantly celebrating her curves.
Megan Fox
“I thought it was illegal, honestly, to shame a child or shame a mom for what a child wears.” – Megan Fox
Thanks to her refusal to conform to gender norms, Megan has received mad attention from social media trolls. As soon as she posted a photo of her sons’ flowing locks, the critical comments began to stack up. Mom-shamers accused her of treating her sons like girls and begged her to consider haircuts for the crew. How is that anyone’s business but hers?
What do you think about celebrity mom-shamers? Do you think these celebs are doing the right thing by clapping back? Sound off in the comments!
