Two days after actress Naya Rivera went mixing while boating with her 4-year-old son, authorities have declared the search for her a recovery mission. As Mama Uncut previously reported, Rivera and her son Josey rented a pontoon boat to take down Lake Piru in Ventura County, California around 1:00 p.m. on July 8.
Hours later, around 4:00 p.m., a passerby in a different boat noticed the pontoon, but only found Josey sleeping in it while still wearing his life jacket. Rivera was nowhere to be found. When authorities asked the young boy where his mother was, he told them that she had gone into the water, without her life jacket, but never came back up.

In a statement issued by the Ventura County Police Department, “upwards of 100 law enforcement and emergency personnel—including several dive teams from Sheriff’s departments around the region—are searching the depths of Lake Piru for the body of Naya Rivera who is missing with all indications she drowned in Lake Piru.”
Then on July 9, Ventura County Sheriff Deputy Chris Dyer confirmed that there are “no signs of foul play” and “no signs of anything that went wrong besides a tragic accident,” in a press conference. He went on to say that their number one priority is to find Rivera’s body and bring her home to her family for closure.
Dyer went on to say that it’s believed Rivera was familiar with the area as she had come out to Lake Piru often. The man-made reservoir “is deep, up to 130 [feet] in spots and loaded with debris on the bottom.”
Police have also released the last known footage of Naya Rivera showing her car pulling into the marina with her son in tow.
And The New York Post has also obtained and released the 911 call in which the Good Samaritans notified 911.
During the call, the woman reports Josey as a little girl at first and shares that it was her husband who originally found him alone on the boat. According to Page Six, the husband was an employee of the boat rental company who launched a search when Rivera was 30 minutes late to return.
Rivera’s body has yet to be found, but Josey has since been reunited with his father.
