Former reality star Jon Gosselin was recently interviewed on the First Class Fatherhood podcast where he talked about his custody battle with his ex-wife Kate Gosselin. Jon and Kate, who were married for 10 years before their divorce, have eight children together.
Jon currently has custody of two of their eight children, sextuplets Hannah and Collin. Collin, in 2016, was sent to a treatment center after Kate decided it was the best decision for him. She told People at the time:
“Collin has special needs. [There’s] a fairly fluid diagnosis of what those needs are, but he needs to learn certain strategies to help him deal with things. This has been a struggle we’ve had for a very long time, and it’s one I’ve dealt with on my own. I’ve felt very alone in this. By the same token, it’s not something that has only impacted me or him — our entire family has been impacted.”

However, two years later, in December 2018, Jon was awarded sole custody of Collin and he was removed from the treatment center, E! News reports. Jon has even gone as far as to say his son doesn’t have special needs, despite his ex-wife’s statements.
Jon Gosselin Talks Custody Battles and His Relationship With Six of His Eight Children
At the time, Jon already had custody of Hannah. Now, in an interview with First Class Fatherhood podcast, Jon says Kate hasn’t seen her son since he started living with his dad. “Kate has no contact with him, so there was a whole bunch of stuff that happened with him.”
He continued, “There’s no contact between Collin and his other siblings. There’s contact between Hannah and the other siblings. So the problem right now is we have parent alienation and sibling alienation.”
And although his relationship with his six other children isn’t the greatest, Jon said he’s trying to coordinate a family therapy session in order to find some common ground. The father said he thinks “think it’s super important.”
However, Jon believes a lot of their current issues will go away as their sextuplets get older. This year, the 15-year-olds will be 16 and getting their driver’s license, meaning they will be able to drive themselves places to meet up with their siblings who still live with their mom.
“Pretty much what I’m waiting for is as soon as my two kids that live with me drive, they have every right to drive to their siblings school, pick them up, and Kate can’t stop them. I’m hoping that will break down a lot of the tension between siblings.”
He said he’s “probably spent about $1.3 million in court” and has attended a court hearing every month for years. “When Hannah was 12 years old she wanted to live with me, so then I had to go get legal again, and then I got shared custody. And then, all of a sudden now, I got primary of her.”

He continued, “I’ve been through nine attorneys. I’ve probably spent $1.3 million in court, back and forth with everything else. And then I got sole custody of Collin.”
Jon is also dad to 18-year-old twins, Mady and Cara, who he also doesn’t have a relationship with.
