Actor Penn Badgley and his wife Domino Kirke have exciting news: they are expecting their first child together after experiencing two devastating losses.
The elated mama announced her pregnancy to the world with a gorgeous Instagram post.
As an experienced doula, Domino is especially well-versed in the complicated emotions surrounding pregnancy after miscarriage.
“On the road again… pregnancy after loss is whole other thing. After two miscarriages in a row we were ready to call it,” shares Domino. “I stopped trusting my body and started to accept the fact that I was done. As a birth attendant, I’ve seen and heard it all. It takes everything I’ve got to detach lovingly from the losses I’ve been present for and be in my own experience.”
Domino also touched on how crucial it is to have a strong community to help you through the challenges of childbirth and parenthood.
“When I was pregnant at 25, I knew nothing. I had no community. I dove in blissfully unaware about birth and its mysteries. Now, with 10 years worth of experience to pull from, I treasure my birth community and the knowledge I have. You’re already teaching us how to stay in the day in a way we’ve never had to, little one. Thank you.”
The co-founder of Carriage House Birth has one child named Cassius with her former partner and has shared that Penn is a wonderful stepdad.
“He doesn’t have to be ‘dad’ so he can have more fun with him. It’s really nice,” she shared with Us Weekly. “The stepparent thing is definitely unchartered territory for me cause I didn’t grow up with one, but … he takes care of him really well.”
We wish the parents-to-be the absolute best of luck on their journey and offer our condolences to them for their losses as well. Stay strong, you two! You’ve got this!
