Every mom likes to be around to take care of the littles when they’re not feeling well, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t draining. Actress and mom of two, Hilary Duff, recently talked to PureWow about raising her 15-month-old daughter Banks Violet and 7-year-old son Luca Cruz and all the joys—and germs—that come with it.

She admitted that she and her husband Matthew Koma feel like they’re constantly on the defense against germs because the kids are “like Petri dishes.” With Luca in school and Banks in enrichment classes, Duff admitted she’s always working to contain runny noses and the onset of colds.

“When Luca’s going to school and coming home, I’m trying to teach him to not get all up in his sister’s face right away,” the Younger star said. “It’s sad because he wants to just have his hands all over her and he’s obsessed with her, which is so great. But I’m like, ‘Just give her some space.’”
Especially during cold and flu season, Duff is careful not to spread germs within their house, or outside of it. “If my kid is sick, they’re not going to class.” She continued:
“Yes, if Luca is sick, it’s hard for him to miss school, but I really believe that rest is so important. I’m like, ‘Okay if you’re going to nap and take it easy. But the word ‘nap’ is like a four-letter word to a 7-year-old.”
While rest is best, they also plan some fun things to do while at home during sick days as well, like baking and watching movies. “Wrestling a little one to wipe her nose all day is a lot…but those days are your badges of honor and make you feel like Super Woman when you’re finished,” she told PureWow.
And when Duff and Koma aren’t taking care of their sick children, they’re off being one of Hollywood’s cutest couple. The pair recently released a remake of the Third Eye Blind song Never Let You Go.
