‘You Must Be From LA…’: 21 Times Pink Clapped Back at Mom-Shamers and Rude Commenters on Social Media

Celebrities are held to the most ridiculous standards online, and if you’re a celebrity mom, you might as well avoid the comments and replies altogether. Mom-shamers and rude commenters never miss a chance to pass criticism. This has been particularly true for superstar Pink who has been the target of trolls and the “parenting police.” The mother of two, who tours with her kids, is relentlessly mocked and shamed online for the silliest reasons. Criticism comes in the forms of mean-spirited tweets and comments on Instagram regarding everything from how she feeds her kids to how she’s aging. There’s just no shortage of trash being hurled at this incredible rockstar and mom. Luckily, Pink isn’t having any of it. She’s given us some of the most epic clap backs, proving that she’s not only as tough as her stage persona, but she’s living that life every single day. Ranging from angry to IDGAF, Pink has her own unique way of putting people in their place. Here are our favorite times Pink showed that she’s one of the best moms on the internet and that she does not suffer fools gladly.

Dinner time

A post shared by P!NK (@pink) on

In 2017, Pink was mom-shamed after she posted a photo of herself preparing dinner for her children with her baby boy Jameson strapped to her front. The negative comments rolled in: many were ‘concerned’ for Jameson’s safety. One person wrote, “Dangerous stuff for your kids! Stop doing this! You are a great singer, don’t need to expose your baby to boiling oil. Are you insane these days?”

And another chimed in, “I’m not usually picky like this, but you seriously are endangering your child wearing them while next to the stove like that, especially face first.” One user added that they’ve read “horrific stories about terrible accidents that have occurred doing this.”

Many of her fans and followers came to her defense and Pink replied, “I’m relieved that most of you see the ridiculousness of the comment situation. Lord help us all.”

A Friendly Reminder

Pink posted a cute photo on Instagram of her family enjoying a meal. In addition to Pink and baby Jameson, her daughter Willow and partner Carey Hart are all gathered around the dinner table together. Pink captioned the post, “At least twice a week on tour, we shut the door to the outside world and have family dinner. As you can see, it makes Jameson feel deep, deep joy.”

Someone in the comments thought they were clever and replied, “Except it’s posted on IG.”

Pink replied directly, “Yes I like to promote healthy stuff. I also like to remind people to stop being TOTAL DOUCHE BAGS TOO.”

Purple Reign

Instagram isn’t the only place that Pink shuts it down like a boss. Someone tweeted a hateful message about her, writing, “Pink looks so old that she should be named purple instead.”

“You must be from LA,” the “Trouble” singer replied. “Well, there are a few people left in the world that choose to age naturally. And I’ve earned every f*cking minute of my 38 years. How you lookin though? Cause I never heard of ya til you put my name in your mouth. I shall call you little purple troll.”

Have you ever? My goodness. Well, at least we know that Pink stays true to herself. This tweet is from two years ago. However, she discussed aging naturally and committed to doing so just days ago.

Blue Hair Don’t Care

Pink not only advocates for herself online, but she also does it for others as well. After singer Jessica Simpson was shamed for dying her 7-year-old daughter’s hair, Pink colored her own daughter’s hair.

She posted pictures of the process to her Instagram and captioned the post, “I heard people were bummed on Jessica Simpson for letting her seven-year-old get her hair colored. So we thought we’d share what we did yesterday. #bluehairdontcare #getyourownkids”

This is what solidarity looks like!

Stepping Since the Beginning of Time

21 Times Pink Clapped Back at Mom-Shamers, Rude Commenters, and More on Social Media
@pink [View on Twitter]

Pink doesn’t only have to deal with detractors online; she also has faced them publicly from her own industry. In 2018, Recording Academy president Neil Portnow told women to “step up” for more representation and inclusion in the music industry. Portnow made the statement in response to the #GrammysSoMale discussion, which called out the underrepresentation of female musicians.

Pink took to her Twitter and posted a handwritten note that helped bring Portnow some perspective. Pink wrote:

“Women in music don’t need to ‘step up’—women have been stepping since the beginning of time. Stepping up, and also stepping aside. Women owned music this year. They’ve been killing it. And every year before this.” She continued, “When we celebrate and honor the talent and accomplishments of women, and how much women step up every year, against all odds, we show the next generation of women and girls and boys and men what it means to be equal and what it looks like to be fair.”

RIP telling women to “step up.”

Diaper Drama

Pink faced online criticism for her parenting again this past summer when she posted a photo of herself and two children. The photo included Jameson fresh from the pool without a diaper on. People lost their minds so Pink deleted the post and then reposted a ‘censored’ version of the image along with a scathing take in the caption.

“There’s something seriously wrong with a lot of you out there. Going off about my baby’s penis? About circumcision?? Are you for real? As any normal mother at the beach, I didn’t even notice he took off his swim diaper,” she wrote. “I deleted it because you’re all f–king disgusting. And now I’m turning off my comments and shaking my head at the state of social media and keyboard warriors, and the negativity that you bring to other people’s lives. There is something seriously wrong with a lot of you out there. Smfh. Here’s a picture of the pelican we obviously caught and abused for hours before dangling baby penis in its face.”

Done and dusted.

The World Needed Your Wisdom Today

Pink was criticized for taking her son on a wholesome trip to the zoo. She posted a photo of her son enjoying the animals at the Hamburg Zoo and was immediately judged for it. Someone commented on the Instagram post, “I’m surprised you go to zoos. Animals shouldn’t be in captivity. If it was a sanctuary — that’d be different.”

Pink responded to the animal enthusiast, “I believe in capturing a child’s interest and love for an animal before teaching them about things like captivity,” she wrote. “But thank you, the world needed your wisdom today.”

Zing!

Let Children Be Children

Pink’s two kids tour with her and they get to experience all sorts of different places around the world. At a stop in Berlin, she took her children to the Holocaust Memorial and shared a picture of her kids there. Critics pounced on the singer for allowing her kids to play in such a somber place.

She edited the caption on the Instagram photo to defend herself, writing “Berlin, I love you. #holocaustmemorial #panamarestaurant #cocktailclasses #history #herstory #worldtour and for all of the comments; these two children are in actuality Jewish, as am I and the entirety of my mother’s family. The very person who constructed this believed in children being children, and to me this is a celebration of life after death. Please keep your hatred and judgment to yourselves.”

Noted.

Pink Literally Shut Them Down

Shortly after the post about her son’s diaper and her kids in a Holocaust Memorial, Pink decided she’d had enough of the nonstop mom-shaming. She went through with her threat and turned off all comments on personal posts with her kids.

To commemorate the purge, she posted a photo of her husband lounging in the pool with a glass of wine. She captioned the photo in part, “Just a friendly reminder to those of you that need it: there will be no more comments on this page!”

She shut it down!

Instagram is Fun

Pink celebrated turning off the comments even more with a hilarious post to Instagram. She posted a picture of her kids running through a sprinkler. Then, she imagined the faux-outrage she’d normally expect.

She captioned the photo, “Here’s a picture of my child running through water. It wasn’t even filtered. What a waste of water. And no helmet? I hope she had sunscreen. If she slips and falls she may be traumatized for life. And her mother wasn’t even there. I was….. gasp…. working!!!! In another country! ????????????????#instagramisfun”

She was not having anymore from the parenting police!

Women Supporting Women

While Pink does get her fair share of mom-shamers, she’s not immune to professional criticism as well. After Lady Gaga performed the Super Bowl Halftime Show in 2017, many compared Gaga’s performance to aerialist Pink’s signature style. Before fans could begin pitting the musicians against one another Pink posted a note to her Instagram. It reads:

“For the record: Let’s squash this before it even has a chance to be a thing… Lady Gaga killed it yesterday. Her voice was powerful and beautiful, her outfits were on point, choreography stellar, her heart was in it and she sang about love and inclusiveness, all in front of millions and millions of people. Let’s celebrate a woman who has the guts to jump off a roof and stand up there in the first place. Who cares if I flew first? Cause I didn’t! Cirque and Peter Pan been in the air for years!”

Pink captioned the post #womensupportingwomen.

Don’t Mess with Her Man Pt. 1

Before she disabled the comment section, Pink taught the clap back masterclass after an incident when her husband was criticized. Pink’s husband Carey Hart is a professional motocross biker. He posted a photo of himself with his son riding on a motorbike and the internet lost its mind.

Hart captioned the photo, “Jamo [Jameson’s nickname] has his race face on. Don’t worry parent police, I’m a professional.”

For a taste of the outrage, here’s one comment that sums it up, “A professional? More like an arrogant prick looking for attention at any cost. Professionals do the right thing. I would never take my 2yr old kid on a motorbike unless I thought I was superman. Screw you and your brainless fans.”

Don’t Mess with Her Man Pt. 2

3 days after her husband’s post with his son, Pink responded to the outrage by posting a photo of her son with food smeared on his face. She captioned the adorable picture, with the taunting caption, “Chocolate is good for babies right? Help me Instagram, we can’t possibly parent without you.”

The sarcasm was lost on some. One person commented on the photo, “I love your music, your kids are beautiful, but your husband, I’m sorry, lacks the responsibility your kids need in his care.”

Pink unloaded in her reply:

“You sound well informed on the performance of my husband as a father,” she replied. “Answer me this: how often have you spent time with my husband? How often have you watched him parent? Do you know my children? Are you aware of their development?” Pink went on to question her opponent’s “credentials in Parenting expertise”.

“Are you a perfect parent? Sh*t, are you even a parent?” she inquired. “These are bold statements from a social media spectator.”

“God bless your perfect path,” Pink said in conclusion. “I have no interest in that myself. However, do check in from time to time to let us all know what other teachings you may have for us, oh perfect f*cking stranger.”

End scene.

Pink Wants You to Take a Day Off

Pink posted a touching photo of her daughter Willow with her dad. She implored people to practice restraint when it comes to sharing their criticisms online.

She captioned the photo on Instagram, “I’d like to propose a worldwide internet challenge to anyone reading this today. Go ONE day without criticizing someone online. Let’s call it the MISS ME WITH THE BULLSH*T CHALLENGE. And if it feels good, hey, why not go TWO DAYS. But let’s start with one for the overzealous out there. #onedayatatime #onlylove”

Hart tweeted a reply, “I think it’s a long shot, but I’m optimistic!!!”

At Least We All Suck at Something

Pink performed the national anthem for Super Bowl LII while she was sick with the flu and her rendition was widely praised. However, one unfortunate soul decided he’d tweet his unpopular opinion, writing, “If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it 1000 times. Pink suck and if you like her singing you’re dumb.”

Pink had some thoughts, she tweeted, “Yeah but [at least] I suck while singing our countries national anthem, and you just suck by yourself on a dirty couch. #winning”

Pink’s tweet garnered tens of thousands of likes and retweets. We hope the troll who tweeted the criticism deleted his account.

Pink posted a screengrab of a BuzzFeed list titled, “A List of All the Celebrities that Fell for That Really Dumb Instagram Hoax.” The BuzzFeed article featured a picture of Pink as the cover photo.

Pink shared the screengrab with the caption, “Awww look at that pretty face.”

She put a fork in it.

Setting the Record Straight

View this post on Instagram

I don’t need to clear this up, but out of respect for my fans I will attempt it. I scheduled this tour meticulously, trying to do what was best for my children, while also putting on the best and most physically demanding and beautiful show of my life. This break in Byron has been scheduled since 2017, as a way to get outside the hotel and the winter and have some time with my children. I’ve already been sick twice (kids as well)on this Australian tour, but the first time we got sick, I was able to push through. This time, what these parasite paparazzi don’t show you, is two doctor visits in Byron on two consecutive days, antibiotics, steroids, Vick’s, nose spray, throat spray, more steroids, NyQuil, a screaming baby in the middle of the night, every night, while mama gives him warm baths and tells her daughter everything is fine. You can think whatever you want, it’s your right, but I have never taken advantage of any one in my entire life. I have never fucked off while disrespecting hard working people who spend money to come see me play. I have never phoned in a single tour, I have an impeccable record for not cancelling. I mother with everything I have whilst handling all the rest. The snark in this is unbelievable and makes me long for a nicer world. I’m doing the absolute best I can, and you can believe it or not. What they don’t show you in this picture is me drinking water and lying down while my friends try to entertain my 7 year old who is asking me why these creepy men are surrounding us and pacing back and forth and taking pictures of her every move. I will see everyone tomorrow whether I’m better or not, and the postponed show will be rescheduled. As I said, I’m sorry to the real fans who this situation has affected. Onwards and upwards.

As part of her Beautiful Trauma Tour, Pink traveled to Australia with her kids. While there, she and her family got sick a couple of times and needed some time to relax and enjoy each other’s company. They decided on a trip to the beach. Photos surfaced of Pink and her daughter and one photo was accompanied by the headline, “Pink’s Sydney concert canceled as she chills in Byron Bay.”

Pink shared the image to her Instagram with a lengthy caption that set the record straight:

“I don’t need to clear this up, but out of respect for my fans I will attempt it. I scheduled this tour meticulously, trying to do what was best for my children, while also putting on the best and most physically demanding and beautiful show of my life,” she wrote, “I’ve already been sick twice (kids as well)on this Australian tour, but the first time we got sick, I was able to push through. She continued by defending her dedication to her fans, “You can think whatever you want, it’s your right, but I have never taken advantage of [anyone] in my entire life. I have never f*cked off while disrespecting hard working people who spend money to come to see me play.”

She finished by saying, “I will see everyone tomorrow whether I’m better or not, and the postponed show will be rescheduled. As I said, I’m sorry to the real fans who this situation has affected. Onwards and upwards.”

Pink Just Wants Decency, People!

In August 2017, Pink won the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at the VMAs. Some people online weren’t happy about that and decided to roast the singer online for her achievement. One person tweeted some hate, writing, “Let’s celebrate @Pink’s Vanguard Award with the only relevant video of her career, starring as Xtina backup singer.”

The person was referring to the music video for the song “Lady Marmalade” from the Moulin Rouge Soundtrack. Pink recorded and performed the song with a few other musicians, notably, Christina Aguilera. Pink and Aguilera were rumored to have some drama with each other at the time. And the tweeter clearly wanted to pour more fuel on that fire.

Pink shut it down by tweeting, “Want to point out an awful new phenomenon of the last 10’years. We can no longer be happy for each other. I [heart] Xtina, we’ve made amends….”

Happy Memorial Weekend. Thanks @foxheadinc

A post shared by P!NK (@pink) on

The year was 2016, and Pink posted a photo of herself in red, white, and blue for Memorial Day. She tweeted the Instagram post as well, writing, “Thank you to all those who serve, have served. We’re the land of the free because of the brave+we’re grateful to you as well as your families.”

Who’d have thought that would motivate people to rage tweet at the singer? Well, anyone who’s used Twitter! Someone responded to the post ‘explaining’ the difference between Memorial Day and Veteran’s Day.

Pink shot back: “I’ll honor all of those who serve and HAVE SERVED. My entire family. Like I said. My pet peeve is people like you…” and then added, “My 70yr old Veteran dad marched this morning in a parade like he does every year, to honor those who’ve fallen. Take your bs somewhere else.”

The tweet that set Pink off has been deleted. We all have Pink to thank for that.

Pink Get Polarizing

View this post on Instagram

Throw up Thursday. I am the same girl I’ve always been. I have always admitted when I am wrong. I have apologized many times. I’m a big believer in apologies, when you’re wrong. I was raised by a Vietnam Veteran who taught me to stand up for what I believe to be right. Even if that means standing alone. I do not now, nor have I ever apologized for some of my very polarizing opinions. If you are surprised by this, or offended, you have every right to unfollow me, as you really don’t know who I am. I am mostly peace and love, with a little bit of go f*ck yourself. So when you keyboard warriors (anonymous toughguys) threaten me? that middle finger is pointed at you. Again: the unfollow button is (I think) top right of your screen. It lets you unfollow people you find make you uncomfortable. It’s great. It really works. This country is broken right now in a lot of ways. It makes me very angry and sad. We all remind me of my parents right before their divorce when they could no longer even speak to each other with anything less than hatred and vitriol. It’s tragic. And we’re all to blame. There are many beautiful people in the world and in this country who want equality for all. Justice. For people to be paid for their work. For their leaders to communicate in productive ways. For children to have respect for others, for veterans to be honored and treated with respect. These are the ideals my father raised me with. And you all cannot talk me out of it. No matter what vile things you say about me and my husband and my children. Onwards and upwards. Keep fighting the good fight.

In the early days of 2019, Pink found herself in the middle of a certain kind of storm after she posted and commented on a controversial video. The video showed a high school student wearing a MAGA hat and taunting a Native American elder. The video went viral and started a national conversation.

Pink expressed her disgust writing, “Appalling and beyond disrespectful,” and further, “Nauseating. What’s going to be done about this?”

She got a lot of pushback and calls for her to issue an apology. She posted a photo of herself to Instagram with a caption to respond to the growing criticism. She wrote, in part:

“I do not now, nor have I ever apologized for some of my very polarizing opinions. It’s great. It really works.”

Reminder: no one’s making you follow anyone else online.

Calling Out Body-Shamers

Pink’s been battling shamers since forever, but this instance dates back to 2015. Pink tweeted a photo of herself and her husband at a charity event. Trolls jumped on the photo and people began criticizing the singer for her weight. She even retweeted a tweet from someone calling her a “fat b*tch.”

21 Times Pink Clapped Back at Mom-Shamers, Rude Commenters, and More on Social Media
@pink [View on Twitter]

After the retweet, Pink posted a lengthy message in response:

“While I admit that that dress didn’t photograph as well as it did in my kitchen, I will also admit that I felt very pretty. In fact, I feel beautiful. So, my good and concerned peoples, please don’t worry about me,” she wrote. “I’m not worried about me. And I’m not worried about you either:)… I am perfectly fine, perfectly happy, and my healthy, voluptuous and crazy strong body is having some much deserved time off. Thanks for your concern. Love, cheesecake”

Pink’s seen all sorts of shaming, trolling, and meanspiritedness online. Luckily, this star knows how to shut it down with a quickness. From protecting herself to looking out for her husband’s reputation and the happiness of both her kids, Pink is one strong mom. In an era when every single celebrity mom is subjected to mom-shaming, Pink, more than any other celebrity mom, has been the most vocal opponent of it. This is optimistic, but we hope that Pink’s efforts shine a light on the issue and that people will just chill online and off and let moms live their lives.
