We are only one month into Season 19 of ‘Sister Wives,’ but the rumors are already heating up.
In fact, one of those rumors had the sister wives so irritated that they felt the need to debunk it in the latest episode of the show, which aired on TLC on Oct. 13.
“So, there’s this rumor that in the church, a lot of the sister wives would sit around and breast-feed and swap kids around,” one of the directors asks Christine Brown during a confessional.

Christine, who announced her split from Kody Brown in Nov. 2021, was quick to deny the rumor. “That is not true!” she asserted. “No, that was a joke. That’s disgusting.”
The three other sister wives were also asked, but they didn’t all give the same answer.
While Meri Brown, who confirmed her split from Kody in Jan. 2023, agreed that “it wasn’t something that we did on a regular basis just for fun,” she did admit to breastfeeding one of her sister wives’ child once.
“I actually breastfed one of our kids that was not my own child,” she said, adding that it “was kind of medically necessary at the time.” She later denied that she did it “just for kicks and giggles.”
Other ‘Sister Wives’ share conflicting views on breastfeeding
The conversation didn’t end with Christine and Meri, and ended up sparking a lively discussion that revealed a wide range of conflicting views from several of the wives.
Janelle Brown, who announced her split from Kody in December 2022, denied taking part in the alleged tradition, but failed to confirm or deny if other polygamists take part.
“I’ve never breastfed another baby. I never had enough milk,” she shared. “I would have been hard pressed to do that.”
Meanwhile, Robyn Brown took a completely different stance and confirmed the rumor to be true. “Yeah, it’s true. It’s true. Women would breastfeed each other’s babies,” she said, though a bit hesitant at first.
Robyn admitted that she has “seen it plenty of times” in her church, but it’s “not like musical babies.”
“It’s more of, like, necessity and help and, you know, a community of women being supportive to each other about their children and stuff,” she continued.
Kody accuses Meri of not being loyal in their relationship
Last week’s episode of Sister Wives details the moment Meri requested a release from her marriage.
While sharing the news in a confessional, Kody said there were “a few other things” about Meri’s request “that I don’t want to necessarily disclose that sort of upset me.”
In a confessional of her own, Meri explains what those “few other things” were.
“They did say that it was on the grounds of abandonment,” Meri said. “And I know he doesn’t like that word because he doesn’t feel like he abandoned me. I feel like he did.”
Meri and Kody got married in 1990 and had one child, a son named Leon Brown, before entering a polyamorous relationship. They divorced in 2014 so Kody could marry Robyn and adopt her children.
Kody then went on to reveal that he’s “relieved that it’s done,” though he described it as “heartbreaking” and “sad.”
“But let’s just be honest here. I was afraid of what she would do if I ripped off that Band-Aid. It’s because Meri was never loyal to me, ever. That’s what I’ve been worried about,” he added.
