Thai police are sharing details of a wedding gone horribly wrong.
According to CBS News, a decorated local para-athlete known as Chaturong Suksuk married his wife over the weekend in front of their family and friends. However, things turned dark at the reception after exchanging vows.
As CBS News reports, while the couple celebrated becoming husband and wife, Suksuk reportedly snapped and used a gun to kill his wife and three of their guests. The athlete then turned the gun on himself.
Reports have identified Suksuk’s three other victims as “bride’s mother Kingthong Klajoho, 62, her younger sister Kornnipa Manato, 38, and a guest, Thong Nonkhunthod, 50.” A stray bullet also made contact with a fourth guest. Their status is unclear.
A police officer with knowledge of the situation revealed that the groom and his wife “had an argument on private matters and Chaturong walked to his car and picked up a gun before shooting.”
Suksuk was allegedly “quite intoxicated at the time” of the shooting, CBS News reports. But the details around the argument that reportedly led to the shooting is unclear.
Suksuk was reportedly 15 years younger than his bride. They had lived together for at least three years before ultimately marrying.
Suksuk was a swimmer and completed at a couple ASEAN Para Games. In 2022, he took home two silver medals.
He was once an army ranger for Thailand before he lost his right leg while patrolling the border.
