Update: 10/27/23: 9:30 P.M.: BREAKING MANHUNT NEWS coming out of Maine. According to multiple reports, the suspect police believe is responsible for the mass shooting that occurred in Lewiston, Maine has been found dead.
This update comes 48 hours after Robert Card allegedly opened fire on multiple locations in Lewiston, killing 18 and wounding at least 13 others.
Specific details about how and where Card was located are not yet known to the public. This is a developing report. Mamas Uncut will continue to share updates as they are made available.
Update: 10/26/23: 9:00 A.M.: Grocery stores and schools remain closed as police’s manhunt for the person of interest continues.
Lisbon Chief of Police Ryan McGee says the entire police force is on the hunt for Card. They have received “a lot” of calls from concerned local citizens. “It’s what we want them doing right now if they see anything suspicious,” McGee explained to CNN.
“We want to locate the individual, make sure our communities kept safe. So biggest thing I can say is make sure that if the community sees anything, stay inside, don’t approach, call the police department. Everybody’s involved we’re just trying to keep the community safe — obviously this is a very tragic incident that happened — we’re doing our job to the best of our abilities to locate this suspect. I would say we’re going to not stop until we get him.”
Update: 10/25/23: 11:00 P.M.: Police have identified and are still looking for a person of interest in the mass shooting that took place in Lewiston, Maine.
According to reports, police are currently looking for a man identified as Robert Card. The New York Post reports that Card is 40 years old and is “reportedly a trained firearms instructor believed to be in the Army Reserve.”
Reports also alleged that Card has known mental health issues, claiming that he was treated back in August at a mental health facility when he allegedly began hearing voices. He allegedly has made shooting threats in the past.
Card is a “person of interest regarding the mass shooting at Schemengees Bar and Sparetime Recreation this evening,” a post from police read. “CARD should be considered armed and dangerous. Please contact law enforcement if you are aware of his whereabouts.”
New reports are now confirming that 18 people are dead and 13 more are injured after the gunman opened fire at multiple locations in Lewiston, Maine.
According to law enforcement sources, a total of 50 to 60 people in total have been injured. CNN reports that the suspect believed to be responsible for the mass shooting is still at large.
In a Facebook post shared to the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office page, police officers encouraged “all businesses to lock down and or close while we investigate.” State police asked citizens to “Please stay inside your home with the doors locked. If you see any suspicious activity or individuals please call 911.”
Initial reports claim that law enforcement personnel responded to a call from Sparetime Recreation, a bowling alley, and Schemengees Bar & Grille Restaurant. Lewiston public information officer Derrick St. Laurent also told the Sun Journal newspaper that another shooting was also reported at a local Walmart Distribution Center.
