As Gypsy Rose Blanchard continues to share her story now that she is a free woman, the 32-year-old has accused her grandfather of abusing her when she was a young child.
In an interview with People, Blanchard claimed the abuse she suffered at the hands of her grandfather lasted for about a year. “I’ve gotten to a point where I can stand on my own two feet and say, this happened to me and I’m not going to let it affect me anymore,” Blanchard told People.
“And that’s why I’m talking about it now. And I think for me, making it known that it happened might prevent him from doing the same thing to another family member or another child or another person because he’s still alive.”
But in response to the accusation, her grandfather Claude Pitre, denied the claims but then added a shocking detail. “She was the one that was trying to touch me, and I’d say no, don’t do that,” Pitre claimed in the Lifetime documentary. “She started doing that when she was about 4 years old.”
In response to Pitre’s response, Blanchard said she wants nothing to do with him now.
Gypsy Rose is officially on social media. And she’s sharing her first video of herself as a “free” woman on Tikok and Instagram. Take a look:
The video thanked everyone for their support and announced her “3-night” event on Lifetime called The Prison Confessions of Gypsy Rose Blanchard. “It’s nice to be home in Louisianna. I got a lot of great things happening really soon,” Gypsy Rose added in her video.
ADDITIONAL UPDATE: The first photo of Gypsy Rose as a free woman has been shared with the public.
It’s been reported that Gypsy’s husband who she met while in prison picked her up upon her release. People reported that the escalade he was driving sported a license plate that read Bret “Hitman” Hart, as he is a reported wrestling fan.
UPDATE: After serving almost 7 of her 10-year sentence, Gypsy Rose Blanchard has been released on parole.
In an exclusive interview with People, Gypsy Rose admits she is remorseful for the role she played in the murder of her mother, Dee Dee. Although Gypsy says she “was desperate to get out of” the situation her mom put her in, but also admits her mother didn’t deserve to die. “Nobody will ever hear me say I’m glad she’s dead or I’m proud of what I did. I regret it every single day.”
“If I had another chance to redo everything, I don’t know if I would go back to when I was a child and tell my aunts and uncles that I’m not sick and mommy makes me sick,” Gypsy told People, “or, if I would travel back to just the point of that conversation with Nick and tell him, ‘You know what, I’m going to go tell the police everything.’ I kind of struggle with that.”
Gypsy is now 32. She tells People that she’s “ready” to start her life over. “I’m ready for freedom. I’m ready to expand and I think that goes for every facet of my life.”
Gypsy Rose Blanchard is getting out early. The 32-year-old was sentenced to 10 years in prison in 2016 after pleading guilty to second-degree murder in connection to her mother’s (Dee Dee Blanchard) death. On Tuesday (Sept. 26), an exclusive report by In Touch revealed that she’s being released 3 years early.
In Touch spoke with a family friend (Titiana Gisclair) who revealed that Gypsy has ‘been paroled’ and will be ‘coming out of prison in December of this year.’ The outlet further confirmed her exact release date as Dec. 28, according to Karen Pojmann – Communications Director Missouri Department of Corrections.
For those who don’t remember, Gypsy’s mother suffered from Munchausen syndrome by proxy and relied on manipulation and abuse to make it appear as if Gypsy was disabled – she wasn’t. Gypsy conspired to kill her mother with her then-boyfriend (Nicholas Godejohn), who stabbed her 17 times while she slept.
Gypsy Rose Blanchard pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and was supposed to be in prison until 2026, but she’s getting out three years early – just in time for the new year. Her mother’s friend, Titiana Gisclair, says her opinion about Gypsy has changed and feels she’s ready, but still thinks she needs help.
Titiana Gisclair Hopes Gypsy Rose Blanchard Seeks Mental Health Help
“I think she’s ready. I think my opinion has changed a lot over time,” Gisclair told In Touch. “My opinion hasn’t changed about her needing psychiatric help. That has not changed because all of the statistics, all of the research, everything says you need to get mental health help. She needs mental health help.”
She admits Gypsy hasn’t received a lot of mental health help in the past seven years, but hopes her being free will give her the opportunity to seek professional help. Gisclair is encouraged by Gypsy’s future and believes she’ll have a lot of support – even saying ‘she will thrive and she will become a better person.’
“There are things that are coming once she comes out of prison. She is going to reach out into the true crime industry and be able to share her story. I think she will also share her story of what has happened to her and the things that she discovered while she was in prison,” Gisclair added in the exclusive interview.
Titiana Gisclair Talks About Dee Dee Blanchard’s Knack for Manipulation
Titiana Gisclair grew up with Dee Dee Blanchard and was a close friend of the family for a long time – so she knew of Dee Dee’s ability to manipulate and witnessed it firsthand. She described Dee Dee as a ‘master manipulative person’ and described how she would often stab people in the back (figuratively).
“She was a good friend, but she just had a way of befriending someone, pretending to be their best friend, and then turning around and stabbing you in the back and you not even realizing it,” Gisclair said – adding that she wasn’t surprised when she learned that Dee Dee had manipulated doctors and nurses for years.
“So a lot of times when these people say, ‘I can’t understand how she manipulated these doctors and manipulated these nurses and manipulated all these people,’ I can see it. I can see it because I saw it firsthand,” Gisclair continued. She didn’t know it at the time, but it made sense when the truth came out.

Gypsy Rose Blanchard and her mother both benefited from the scheme – with Gypsy becoming a local celebrity as everyone rallied around her (thinking she was disabled). She was given free trips to Disneyland and the family’s bills were often paid by supporters who wanted to donate and help out.
