Kyle Chrisley, the eldest son of Chrisley Knows Best star Todd Chrisley, won’t be charged after making death threats against his ex-wife, Alexus Chrisley, in January 2019. The charges were dropped by the Dekalb County district attorney, who cited a lack of cooperation from the victim as a major reason why.
“After further investigation, review of the evidence and discussion with the victim, based on all facts and circumstances our office declined to prosecute the case,” the district attorney told TMZ on Saturday. It’s a small win for Kyle, who has found himself in hot water on several occasions over the past few years.
Recent court documents didn’t provide any further details about the death threat charges being dropped. Speaking to TMZ this week, Kyle Chrisley says he’s glad he ‘can put that part of my life behind me for good’ and described the charges being dropped as something that has ‘been a long time coming.’
Kyle Chrisley was initially arrested back in May 2019 for felony possession of methamphetamine. It was at that point the authorities noticed the open warrant for his arrest stemming from the January 2019 incident with his ex-wife. He was booked into the Okmulgee County Jail and held on the open warrant.
Regarding the death threat allegations, Alexus Chrisley claimed that her husband sent her threatening text messages. “[N]ot before I end you. Im going to the streets I will get my s**t and take care of this problem with you because if I’m not with you nobody will be. Bye Alexus,” one of the texts allegedly read.
Alexus, in response, warned Kyle that he was threatening her life, but he doubled down on his threat – “yes :Lexi it was. Goodbye,” he allegedly wrote. Alexus also provided authorities with other text messages she received from Kyle, including several photos of Kyle allegedly pointing a weapon at his head.
Kyle and Alexus got married in April 2014, but the marriage was annulled by his father, Todd Chrisley, who was Kyle’s legal adult guardian at the time. When Todd’s guardianship over Kyle was reversed later that year, the couple got married again and were together until 2018, when they finalized their divorce.
Kyle Chrisley Still Facing Aggravated Assault Charges
Kyle Chrisley is avoiding punishment for the alleged death threats against his ex-wife, but that’s just the start of his troubles recently. In March 2023, the 32-year-old was arrested and booked into the Rutherford County Jail in Tennessee on a felony aggravated assault charge. He was released on a $3,000 bond.
According to local authorities, Chrisley ‘got into a physical fight’ with a supervisor at Penske Truck Rental and allegedly ‘brandished a fixed blade’ during the altercation. The police originally claimed that Chrisley was working for the rental place, but it was later determined that he worked in an office space nearby.
The arrest came just a few months after his father, Todd Chrisley, and mother, Julie Chrisley, reported to their respective prisons to serve out their sentences. The couple were found guilty of tax evasion, bank fraud, and wire fraud in June 2022 and sentenced several months later in November 2022.
