During a May 4 episode of TODAY with Hoda and Jenna, Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager asked one another if they’re the type to ‘kiss and tell’ – which means sharing details of your romantic encounters. The question stemmed from recent comments Gwyneth Paltrow made on the Call Her Daddy podcast.
Kotb was quick to say no, especially when in a relationship – adding she feels it’s disrespectful to the significant other and even calls it a betrayal. She goes on to explain how hurt and crushed she would feel if her significant other was saying things about her behind her back, so she couldn’t justify doing it herself.
While Jenna agreed with her co-host, she was a little more hesitant about her answer. “I try not to,” she said when Hoda flipped the question onto her. “But I’ve been married to one person for a long time, so I don’t kiss and tell about that relationship,” she continued – referring to her husband, Henry Chase Hager.

While she doesn’t open up about her romantic life often, Jenna Bush Hager went on to share a funny detail about the night before her wedding – one that includes an embarrassing comment her mother, former First Lady Laura Bush, made when she was in her bedroom with her sister, Barbara Bush.
“My sister and I spent the night [on] the night before [my husband and I] got married, and my mom came in [singing] ‘You’re getting married! Let’s go change the sheets!’ And Barbara goes, ‘Eww gross, mom! This isn’t The Other Boleyn Girl!’” the 41-year-old recalled as she shared a laugh with her co-host.
There’s more to the story, but Jenna didn’t want to share the rest of it. “I won’t even say what she said after that,” she said – leaving it to the viewer’s (and reader’s) imagination. The following day, she married the love of her life and they’re now preparing to celebrate their 15-year wedding anniversary on May 10.
In November 2022, Jenna Bush Hager recalled a time before she was married when she allowed her then-boyfriend (Henry Hager) to spend the night at the White House. He was working for her father (the President) at the time and was mortified when he woke up the next day and realized where he was.

Jenna Bush Hager and Hoda Kotb React to Gwyneth Paltrow’s Comments
Before Jenna Bush Hager and Hoda Kotb asked one another if they ‘kiss and tell,’ the two co-hosts were sharing their thoughts on recent comments made by Gwyneth Paltrow on the Call Her Daddy podcast with Alex Cooper. On the podcast, Paltrow got candid about two of her previous celebrity relationships.
For those who aren’t aware, Paltrow met Brad Pitt in 1995 and the two got engaged the following year – though they ended their engagement in 1997. That same year, Paltrow started dating Ben Affleck and had an on-again, off-again relationship with the actor for three years – they broke up for good in 2000.
Cooper asked Paltrow who she thought was better in bed – Pitt or Affleck. While she admitted to having better chemistry with Brad, she also admitted that Ben was more ‘technically excellent.’ Her comments had Jenna baffled – “I wish we had known about this yesterday when Jennifer Lopez was here,” she said.

Hoda made a point that chemistry is going to be unique to each person – you’ll have good chemistry with some, but bad chemistry with others. But Jenna was more focused on the fact that Affleck was ‘technically excellent’ – clarifying that it’s in no way a ‘diss,’ which Hoda agreed on.
