Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Asked to Vacate Frogmore Cottage Home in Windsor, England

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have received a formal request to vacate their Frogmore Cottage estate, located on the grounds of Home Park in Windsor, England. The news comes after King Charles III announced plans to relocate Prince Andrew from the Royal Lodge into Frogmore Cottage in Windsor.

The Royal couple originally moved into the home in the spring of 2019 as they prepared to welcome their son, Archie, who was born on May 6, 2019. Harry had previously lived at Nottingham Cottage – which is located on the grounds of Kensington Palace in London – since 2013 and was later joined by Markle in 2017.

They called Frogmore Cottage their home for less than a year before deciding to step back from their royal duties and move to Canada and then California. After their brief stint in Canada, they made the move to Markle’s native California in 2020, where they’ve resided for the past three years and have since welcomed their second child, a daughter named Lilibet.

Aside from being their home between 2019 and 2020, Frogmore Cottage holds special meaning to both Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. It’s where they took their engagement photos and where they held their evening wedding reception. Harry also spent nearly $3 million of his own money on renovations.

Over the past three years, the estate has remained in the couple’s possession, though they briefly allowed Princess Eugenie (Harry’s cousin) and her husband, Jack Brooksbank, to live there in 2020. Harry and Meghan moved their belongings out overnight to accommodate Eugenie and Brooksbank.

Since then, the couple has made several appearances at Frogmore Cottage. They stayed in the estate for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee and hosted their daughter’s first birthday at the estate. While they’re now being asked to vacate the U.K. home, the cottage will always hold a special place in the couple’s hearts.

Nonetheless, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have since started a new life in a $14.7 million home in Montecito, California. Their new home has a pair of palm trees that are connected at the bottom – which Harry believes to be a symbol of his love for Meghan. Even their son calls the trees ‘Momma’ and ‘Papa,’ reports suggest.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Continue Fallout From Royal Family

On January 10, Prince Harry released his newest memoir titled Spare, which detailed his life, growing up in the royal family, and the moment his relationship with the Royal Family became strained. The memoir came a month after his six-part documentary with Meghan Markle, called Harry & Meghan, was released, which mostly takes aim at the British press.

At least one Royal expert believes the couple’s recent interviews, documentary, and memoir have ‘provoked’ King Charles III – Harry’s father – to vacate them from Frogmore Cottage. “Harry and Meghan provoked him [King Charles] with Harry’s disgraceful book and the interviews he gave,” said Tom Bower.

“I mean, what did he expect?” added Bower. “Harry wanted the royal family to come on bended knee begging for forgiveness, and he’s completely crossed the spectrum. He’s in the mad wilderness of deranged victimhood.” Still, it’s alleged that King Charles III remains hopeful that their relationship can be fixed, but for now, it remain strained.
