A South Carolina mom has been arrested after her home was found “not suitable for living” by the local Sheriff’s office. Ashley McPherson, 27, was charged with six counts of unlawful neglect of a child after it was reported that her seven-month-old had died.
Upon visiting her house, authorities found animal feces around the property and “an immense amount of trash.”

In mid-October, paramedics, sheriff’s deputies, and the coroner arrived at her home to investigate the baby’s death, though it’s not clear who called the authorities.
It’s not clear how the baby died, though the coroner has ordered an autopsy to further investigate the death.
Investigators shared that “McPherson is alleged to have placed her children at an unreasonable risk of harm impacting their health and personal safety by allowing them to be in a home that was not suitable for living.”

The other children have been taken into protective custody, though it’s not clear how many additional children were living with McPherson at the time of her arrest.
McPherson is being held on a $100,000 bond.
