Mariah Carey Shares the Stage With 11-Year-Old Daughter, Monroe, in Latest Christmas Concert

Mariah Carey has one of the most iconic voices of all time, especially when the holidays roll around and she starts hitting those high notes to your favorite Christmas tune. And while many are calling her the Queen of Christmas – a title she has rightfully earned – it appears we now have a Princess of Christmas.

Earlier this month, Mariah welcomed her 11-year-old daughter, Monroe Cannon, onto the stage with her as they sang ‘Away in a Manger’ for their first official Christmas duet. They first performed the song during a December 9th concert in Toronto and performed it a second time on December 13th in New York City.

They make quite the incredible pair, with both matching outfits and matching voices. In fact, Monroe is proving the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree as she hits the same high notes her mother is hitting. Mariah can’t be the Queen of Christmas forever, but it’s good to know we’ve got a replacement waiting.

Their first performance took place at the Scotiabank Arena – home of the Toronto Maple Leafs (NHL) and Toronto Raptors (NBA) – on December 9th. They wore matching white dresses and sparkly tiaras as they sat next to each other on stage. The crowd went absolutely bonkers when Monroe started singing.

The second performance took place at Madison Square Garden – home of the New York Knicks (NBA) and New York Rangers (NHL) – on December 13th. They wore the same outfits and sang the same song, but sounded even better than before as Monroe continued to find her voice and improve her vocals.

Mariah Carey took to Instagram on Wednesday to commemorate her daughter on those high notes she was hitting. “Introducing… Miss Monroe! Don’t miss our first-ever duet, airing tomorrow,” she wrote in a separate post ahead of the holiday special’s release on CBS – it’s now streaming on Paramount+.

Mariah shares Monroe Cannon, along with her twin brother Moroccan Canon, with actor, TV host, and musician Nick Cannon. She gave birth to the twins on April 30, 2011, and while they’re the only children she had, Nick has gone on to have nine more – with a 10th on the way, bringing his total to 12 children.

This Isn’t the First Time Mariah Carey Performed With Her Daughter

For those that have watched Mariah Carey’s holiday special every year, you know that this isn’t the first time the 53-year-old has performed with her daughter. In fact, Monroe performed the song ‘Always Be My Baby’ with her mother several times from 2015 to 2017 during Carey’s #1 to Infinity residency in Las Vegas.

In a 2016 interview with Entertainment Tonight, Mariah Carey explained how both Moroccan (who she calls Roc) and Monroe (who she calls Roe) had musical gifts, but Monroe is starting to come into her own. “She’s got a great ear, so she can repeat what I sing, and you know that’s a telltale sign,” said Mariah.

The more we see of Monroe, the more we can see the similarities between mother and daughter. Of course, it doesn’t help that the two wear matching outfits often – including a recent outing in October where they wore matching outfits and matching braided hair. She’s only 11 but already has a personality.

While we don’t know what the future holds for Monroe Cannon, it’s clear she has an interest in singing and it’s even more clear now that she has a beautiful voice. Taking a look at the comments her mother receives on social media, fans are excited to see more of Monroe as she continues to find her voice.
