In March, Gracie McGraw announced on Instagram that she was diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) – a condition characterized by excessive production of male sex hormones in women. She posted a heartfelt caption that explained her diagnosis and sent love to other women struggling with it.
“During my appointment with my endocrinologist I realized that may had been a factor in my issues with weight, so we decided to try a medicine to regulate my body more normally and create the tools to continue to keep my body and myself healthy as I get older,” she said in the lengthy Instagram caption.
There are five primary characteristics of PCOS that doctors consider before diagnosing a patient with polycystic ovary syndrome. In order to receive the diagnosis, the patient needs to display two of the five characteristics. In Gracie’s case, she received a diagnosis after meeting three of the characteristics.
“I’m learning to navigate the new blemishes but I don’t think that I would have ever allowed myself to go to a doctors appointment like this unless I had taken the correct steps toward my mental health, because as much as physical health is important, mental goes hand and hand,” she continued on Instagram.
She proceeded to send love to those struggling with PCOS, but sent support to anyone going through anything at all. “Mental health is freaking hard !! It’s a long road but we can get through it. I share my experience to hope my situation has reached someone who can relate,” Gracie further explained.
She also praised the medication her doctors have her on – including Qsymia and Ozempic. She noted the changes she’s noticing with her body and overall appearance. “It’s weird to see how your body can change so rapidly but I’m finding new ways to love her and new things to love about her everyday.”
Gracie McGraw is the daughter of country music stars Tim McGraw and Faith Hill. The couple got married in 1996 and went on to have three daughters – Gracie was born on May 5, 1997, Maggie was born on Aug. 12, 1998, and Audrey was born on Dec. 6, 2001. All three daughters are now over the age of 20.
Gracie McGraw Details Disheartening Conversation She Heard Between Two Men
In October, Gracie McGraw once again took to Instagram to speak about her body – and women’s bodies in general. The rant was posted onto her Instagram story and had to do with a conversation she heard two men having – leaving her ‘disheartened’ over how many men perceive women with her body type.
The two men agreed that they would rather have a sexual relationship with a ‘mediocre looking woman’ than a ‘skinny attractive woman’ because they’re easier to please. “To hear something like that, knowing which category I would fall into, and how my body would be spoken about is so disheartening,” she said.
She could see how ‘detrimental’ such a perception could have on those who haven’t accepted their body type and overall appearance. “Why are we still having these conversations about how attractive someone is because of their size?” she continued, showing support to anyone struggling with their body image.

Now that Gracie McGraw has been diagnosed with PCOS, she’s learning to accept her body and is finally starting to find the right, healthy weight for herself. She recently posted a picture of herself in a bikini, captioning the photo “I’ve never been more comfortable in a bikini.” Her happiness is obvious.
