Nancy Pelosi is speaking out about how she found out her beloved husband Paul Pelosi was attacked inside their San Fransisco home. While talking with CNN’s Anderson Cooper, Nancy revealed that she was “very scared” when she received a knock on the door from Capitol Police.

It was 5 a.m. and she had arrived in DC just a day ago. “I look up, I see it’s 5 [a.m. ET], they must be at the wrong apartment,” she told Cooper, but then she heard “bang, bang, bang, bang, bang on the door.”
Nervous and scared about why someone is trying so desperately to reach her, Nancy explained she ran to the door. “I see the Capitol Police and they say, ‘We have to come in to talk to you.’”
Nancy admitted her first thought went to her children and grandchildren. “And I’m thinking my children, my grandchildren. I never thought it would be Paul because, you know, I knew he wouldn’t be out and about, shall we say. And so they came in. At that time, we didn’t even know where he was,” she said.
As Mamas Uncut previously reported, eventually Pelosi would learn that Paul was attacked with a hammer by a man named David DePape. Paul suffered serious injuries as a result and underwent brain surgery “to repair a skull fracture and serious injuries to his right arm and hands,” CNN reported.
Paul has since been released from the hospital and continues his long journey toward recovery at home. And while David DePape still awaits federal charges, he has since been changed with several state charges, including “attempted murder, burglary, assault, false imprisonment and threatening the family member of a public official.”
DePape has pleaded not guilty to those charges. It was reported earlier that DePape was originally looking for “Nancy” with plans to allegedly kidnap her.
Cooper then went on to ask the Speaker of the House how this attack on her family will affect her decision on when to retire. “Yes,” Nancy replied. “It will,” Cooper asked again. “Yes.”
On November 2, new documents were released to the public revealing specific details about the attack on Paul Pelosi. According to documents obtained by Business Insider, Pelosi was awoken by his attacker who was standing over his bed.
New Documents Reveal the Severity of Paul Pelosi’s Injuries Following Horrific Attack
Authorities were allegedly at the Pelosi residence when David DePape struck the 82-year-old in front of police officers. Documents revealed that DePape hit Pelosi at full force in the head. Further details suggest that Pelosi was unconscious in a pool of his own blood for at least three minutes.
In a statement shared by San Francisco’s District Attorney Brooke Jenkins, she said, “What’s clear is this case is vulnerable to misinformation. This was not a random act of violence and this was not a random residential burglary–he sought to come and harm the speaker of the house of the United States.”
