Michael J. Fox and Tracy Pollan will be celebrating their 35th wedding anniversary in 2023 and with their four children all grown up, they’ll have the house to themselves. It’s a lifestyle they’ve gotten used to since their youngest moved out, meaning they now live as ‘empty nesters.’
They met on the set of Family Ties and eventually wed on July 16, 1988. They welcomed their first child, a son named Sam Michael, in 1989, and had twin daughters named Aquinnah Kathleen and Schuyler Frances in 1995, and a second daughter named Esmé Annabelle in 2001.
The pair are blessed with four incredible children, explaining they still spend a lot of time at home – making the house feel not-so-empty, after all. Still, they’re enjoying their new life and have so much to be thankful for – as well as a lot to keep them busy in the coming months.

“It’s an empty nest, but it’s not really an empty nest ’cause they’re all back tonight. But we all get together enough that we’re not heartbroken. [However], it is a new stage in life to be, to have all the kids gone,” said Fox to ET while walking the red carpet with his wife at a Parkinson’s Gala.
Fox and Pollan got to spend some time with a couple of their children at the Gala, an annual event benefiting Fox’s foundation – The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research. The 62-year-old actor was accompanied by Sam, 33, Aquinnah, 27, and Schuyler, 27.
“Yeah, [we’re] empty nesters. Well, it’s not as empty as you would think when you have four. There’s usually somebody home so there’s like a little straggler, usually. But it’s fun! We enjoy the stragglers,” added Pollan, who also opened up about how inspirational her husband is.
Michael J. Fox was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease – a central nervous system disorder that impacts movement and results in tremors – in 1991. He has been learning to live with the symptoms ever since and has been an inspiration to many who struggle with the disease.
Michael J. Fox Will Receive Honorary Oscar on November 19
Back in June, the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences announced the honorees to receive an honorary Oscar at the Governor’s Awards on November 19th. One of the honorees was Michael J. Fox, citing his “indelible contributions to cinema and the world at large.”
The Academy President shined a light on Fox, noting his ‘tireless advocacy of research on Parkinson’s disease alongside his boundless optimism exemplifies the impact of one person in changing the future for millions.’ Fox will receive the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award.
In addition to Fox, the Academy also announced directors Euzhan Palcy and Peter Weir, songwriter Diane Warren as honorees. It’ll be the 13th edition of the event and will take place at the beautiful Grand Ballroom of the Hollywood and Highland Center in Los Angeles, California.
