As much of the world continues to grieve the death of beloved Queen Elizabeth II, we now watch as she is laid to rest. At roughly 5:30 a.m. EST, the Queen’s casket made its way from Westminster to Westminster Abbey, the same place where she was both crown Queen and where she married her beloved husband, Prince Phillip.
And now as Her Majesty meets her husband again in their final resting place, we are now learning what the note atop the Queen’s coffin reads and who it is from. As Mamas Uncut previously reported, last year, when Phillip passed away in April 2021, the Queen wrote a private note to her husband and signed it with the nickname he and her father used to call her, Lilibet.
We Now Know Who Wrote the Note Atop Queen Elizabeth’s Casket and What It Says
It has since been reported that the Queen’s eldest son, King Charles III, has written the note that has been seen amongst the flowers that sit on the Queen’s casket. The note, officials said, reads, “In loving and devoted memory. Charles R.”
It is a tradition that a final note is placed on the caskets of members of the royal family once they pass. Many of you may remember the incredibly emotional moment when Prince William wrote the word “mommy” which sat atop Princess Diana’s casket when she passed away at just 36 years old in 1997.
Prince William recently opened up about what the last 10 days have felt like for him as he and his family mourn the loss of his beloved granny. A reporter on the scene who spoke to a woman who met William Thursday said the prince told her the death of his grandmother brought back memories of the death of his mother, Diana, the Princess of Wales.
“He told us yesterday had been particularly difficult and following the coffin had reminded him of his mother’s funeral, of Diana,” said Jane Wells, who had come to lay flowers for the queen at Sandringham. “He said it had been very difficult.”
Wells continued, “I said, ‘Your mother would be so proud of you and thank you for sharing your grief with us,’ and he said, ‘I’m learning that she was everyone’s grandmother, the way people have reacted.’”
As Mamas Uncut previously reported Prince William’s wife, Kate Middleton, is now the first person to hold the Princess of Wales title since his beloved mother.
William and Harry have been seen together quite a bit these last few days. Something we could only imagine would delight Queen Elizabeth greatly.
The brothers have been in quite a feud over the last few years. However, the pair seemed to have put their differences aside to honor their granny in the right way.
On September 16, the world saw Prince Harry and Prince William, alongside the Queen’s 6 other grandchildren, stand guard of their grandmother’s casket.
And while it’s rare to see all 8 of the grandchildren together, the world watched in awe witnessing the particularly special moment that has been viewed thousands of times so far.
