Yogi and social media influencer Hilaria Baldwin is choosing to be open and honest about the second miscarriage she endured in just seven months.
Alec Baldwin‘s wife made the announcement on her Instagram, using the same video she sent her husband of seven years to share the news with him. Hundreds are now reaching out to the devastated family, including their famous niece Hailey Bieber.
The First Loss
In April of this year, Baldwin took to Instagram to tell her followers that she “may be experiencing a miscarriage.” The 35-year-old mom of four shared a photo of herself in a bikini cradling her tiny baby bump, telling her fans that she thought it was important to share both the highs and the lows of pregnancy.
“I always promised myself that if I were to get pregnant again, I would share the news with you guys pretty early, even if that means suffering a public loss. I have always been so open with you all about my family, fitness, pregnancies…and I don’t want to keep this from you, just because it isn’t as positive and shiny as the rest.”
At the time, she wrote that while “the embryo has a heartbeat, but it isn’t strong, and the baby isn’t growing very much. So we wait—and this is hard. So much uncertainty…but the chances are very, very small that this is a viable pregnancy.”
Pregnant With a Rainbow Baby
Despite the difficult journey ahead of them, Baldwin said she knew her family would be able to get through this difficult journey together. And they did. Then in September, Hilaria and Alec announced that they were expecting again, roughly five months following their miscarriage.
The couple used a video of the baby’s heartbeat to announce their pregnancy to the world. Baldwin wrote, “It is still very early…but we have learned that there is a little person inside of me. The sound of this strong heart makes me so happy—especially because of the loss we experienced in the spring.”
She continued:
“We want to share this news as we are excited and don’t want to hide the pregnancy. These first few months are tough with exhaustion and nausea…and I don’t want to have to pretend that I feel ok. My one request is that the media not send paparazzi to follow me or buy independent paparazzi photos, hence encouraging them. I want to remain peaceful during this very early time in my pregnancy and getting chased around by cameras is not in the doctor’s orders.”
A Difficult Second Miscarriage
Sadly, two months later on November 11, Baldwin took to Instagram again, this time sharing a heartbreaking video of her and her daughter Carmen embracing each other after receiving the difficult news that she had suffered another miscarriage.
The mom said she was four months along in the pregnancy. “We are very sad to share that today we learned that our baby passed away at 4 months. We also want you to know that even though we are not ok right now, we will be.”
Baldwin added, “We are so lucky with our 4 healthy babies—and we will never lose sight of this. I told Carmen and took this so I could send it to Alec. I guess this is a good way to share it with you too.”
She said that she told Carmen that “this baby isn’t going to come after all. And noted that this doesn’t mean she and Alex are done trying for their fifth child together. “We will try very hard to give her a little sister another time.”
“I’m really devastated right now…I was not expecting this when I went to my scan today. I don’t know what else to say…I’m still in shock and don’t have this all quite clear. Please, no paparazzi…that’s all I ask.”
Hundreds of people flooded Hilaria’s comments section with words of encouragement, their condolences, and even shared their own experiences with losing a child. Including Hilaria and Alec’s niece, mode Hailey (Baldwin) Bieber, who wrote, “I’m so sorry. Love you guys.”
Our thoughts and prayers are will Hilaria, Alec, and their children during this difficult time.
