Nearly one week after Tiffany Haddish and fellow comedian Aries Spears were accused of molestation by a 22-year-old woman, Haddish is speaking out for the first time.
Tiffany Haddish Speaks Out for the First Time Since Being Sued and Accused of Disturbing Acts
“I know people have a bunch of questions. I get it. I’m right there with you. Unfortunately, because there is an ongoing legal case, there’s very little that I can say right now. But, clearly, while this sketch was intended to be comedic, it wasn’t funny at all—and I deeply regret having agreed to act in it. I really look forward to being able to share a lot more about this situation as soon as I can.”
As Mamas Uncut previously reported, the 22-year-old claims that Haddish was a “longtime family friend” of her mom. She continued to say she was 14 years old when Haddish took her to the taping of a “sexually suggestive Subways commercial.”
The lawsuit brought by the 22-year-old is also on the behalf of her younger brother as well, who was 7 years old at the time.
The 22-year-old said that Haddish told her the commercial would help her get her start in television. She further claimed that it was during the filming of the commercial that Haddish allegedly taught her how to perform “inappropriate sex acts.”
The accuser, who has remained anonymous, added that while she and her brother were at the time, Haddish claimed she needed to be with the 7-year-old alone. It was then that Haddish reportedly took the young boy into a room where Aries Spears allegedly molested him while Haddish witnessed the disturbing event.
The young man, currently known as John Doe, said that Haddish and Spears gave him a drink that made him sleepy and “happy face candy.” It was further reported that Tiffany Haddish paid the brother and sister $100.
“The Plaintiffs were both minors and were incapable of consenting to participate in sexually graphic videos distributed and published via ‘Funny or Die’s’ platform,” the lawsuit explains. “There was no parent or guardian present.”
Now Haddish and Spears are being sued for “intentional infliction of emotional distress, gross negligence, sexual battery, sexual harassment and sexual abuse of a minor. Additionally, Haddish is also being sued for “negligence supervision/failure to warn, breach of fiduciary duty and constructive fraud,” People first reported.
Tiffany Haddish’s lawyer, in their own statement, has since called the lawsuit and claims made by Jane and John Doe’s mother “bogus.” “Every attorney who has initially taken on her case — and there were several — ultimately dropped the matter once it became clear that the claims were meritless and Ms. Haddish would not be shaken down.”
