Hoda Kotb has a message about being an older mother to her two young daughters.
“They’re going to have each other forever, and that’s what really fills me to the top,” Hoda began.

“Because as an older parent knows one of our secret fears is that we won’t be there for milestones,” Hoda, 58, told People magazine’s “Family Issue,” on newsstands Aug 19.
Hoda shares kids, Haley, 5, and Hope, 3, with her former partner Joel Schiffman. Haley is entering kindergarten and Hope is starting pre-K. According to their mama, the two siblings, who are close in age, share a special bond.
During Tuesday’s show, Hoda shared how she is comforted watching Haley and Hope interact with each other.
“When I look at them, I think of them together forever. I picture them at their weddings. I picture them when they’re old in rocking chairs sitting with their families,” Hoda said. “I won’t be witnessing that — but I’ll be able to know for sure that they’ll have one another.”
Earlier this month, Hoda revealed to TODAY Parents that she tries not to focus on her age, sharing how “no one knows” when their time is up. Hoda’s father, A.J., died when he was 51, which has taught her to celebrate each day.
“Do I want to see my daughters get married? Yes. Do I want to see them graduate? Absolutely. I remain optimistic that all these things will be ahead,” she explained. “But I’m not going to try and game out what I may or may not witness. I’m just glad that I have two girls who will have each other forever. So I try to keep that in my back pocket.”

In this same People’s Family Issue, Hoda praises Schiffman as being a great dad and how the two are into “healthy” co-parenting.
While the two did end their engagement earlier this year, Kotb shared on TODAY with Jenna Bush Hager, how the two are “better as friends and parents.”
She added, “He’s a great guy, and he’s a very kind and loving person, and I feel privileged to have spent eight years with him. We are both good, and we are both going on our way and our path, and we’ll be good parents to those two lovely kids.”
The two have no issues splitting responsibilities.
“He’ll have a Saturday, and I’ll do the Sunday. We switch each week,” Kotb told the outlet. “He’ll take the girls and do some fun things, and I’ll take some quiet time. It’s a healthy mix, and the kids love it.”
Kotb supported her ex-fiancé in June, posting an Instagram photo of the trio making art together. “Happy Father’s day!” she captioned the pic with a heart emoji.
