For months, a mom desperate to know what happened to her son finally devised a plan to get answers using her daughter and her daughter’s teacher. According to the Reno Gazette-Journal, the mom was being held prisoner by her 35-year-old boyfriend.
The last time the mother was allowed to see her son was in December 2021. According to Las Vegas authorities, Brandon Toseland was arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree kidnapping after the mother’s son was discovered in the freezer of Toseland’s garage.

Mother Who Was Being Held Captive By Boyfriend Sends Note to School With Her Daughter As a Desperate Attempt to Locate Her Son
The heartbreaking and horrific discovery was made after the mother, whose identity has not yet been revealed, sent a handwritten note to school with her daughter. The daughter handed the note written by her mother to her teacher.
The note reportedly explained that she was being held against her will by her boyfriend inside their home. The note continued with the mention that she did not know where her son was and that she believed he was dead.
Around 8 a.m. on the morning of February 22, 2022, the teacher notified the authorities about the terrifying note she received from her student. Following the call, metro police began a surveillance operation, 8 News Now reported.
By 10 a.m. police watched a man and a woman leave the home before pulling them over. During questioning, the mother told police that she had not seen her pre-school-aged son since December 11.
Further, the mom admitted that her boyfriend prohibited her from going in certain areas of the home and, according to the Gazette, described months of abuse. “She said she was not allowed to leave the house alone or go into the garage,” Lt. Ray Spencer told the Gazette.
During the search of the couple’s home, police discovered the body of a child in a freezer located in the garage.
While facing murder charges, Toseland has not yet been officially charged with such crimes. The Gazette further reports that Toseland has a long rap sheet with arrests occurring as far back as 2005, which include domestic battery and disorderly conduct.
Since the discovery, the little girl has been placed with other family members. How the little boy died remains unclear pending the official autopsy.
