“Hell yeah, I’m all for it,” she told the outlet. “Look, it’s her body. It’s not my head – that’s a cooler, ballsier choice than I’ll ever be able to make.”
Bell and her husband Dax Shepard recently released a commercial for Lightlife, a vegetarian and vegan meat substitute company, where they talked about their open, honest parenting style.
Bell followed her honest parenting advice with her own daughter, Lincoln, 6, after she asked to shave her head. “I did say to her, ‘You know, it will take a year to grow back. It’s really not going to be there, so I want you to make sure that you’re into it’,” Bell told People. She ultimately gave her daughter Lincoln approval for the bold haircut. Shepard even took his own clippers and helped shave her head.
Bell shared that she’s not quite sure where the idea of shaving her head came from, but guesses it may be from a skateboard Barbie Lincoln is often playing with. Either way, she wasn’t surprised when her daughter made the gutsy move.
“She started riding a motorcycle when she was 3 ½ years old. I mean, she’s kind of a baller,” Bell said. “She loves that [her hair is] what makes her unique. She loves getting compliments on it, and I think that’s wonderful.”
Bell revealed that she loves her daughters’ forms of self-expression.
“I don’t tell them what to wear. Even though I’m desperate for them to wear cuter clothes, they want to wear what they want to wear. If it’s sparkly and it feels comfortable, it’s for them and it’s who they are,” she told the outlet.
“I’m not here to tell them who they are. I’m here to learn about who they are,” Bell said.
