Matthew McConaughey is sharing his secret when it comes to keeping his marriage with Camila Alves, a happy one.
In an interview for Australia’s Today Extra on Saturday, the 52-year-old had some sage words of advice when it came to keeping his 39-year-old wife happy.
“I’m good. Family’s good. Dogs are healthy. Wife doesn’t want to kick me out,” Matthew joked.
And when asked about how he keeps a happy marriage, the star responded saying: “Don’t make a straight line crooked.”
“If things are going well, keep catching green lights. If they’re not, deal with them soon so they don’t bubble up and get you later.”
Previously, Matthew shared how his wife of nine years “challenges” him.

“I’ve got a wife who challenges me. There were two movies I wanted to do last year, but they were back-to-back with no separation,” the actor shared. “She was like, ‘You want to do it – buck up, grab your nuts, and make it happen. We’ll be there with you.’ Papa goes to work, the circus goes with him…”
This past month, McConaughey was in hot water after he was not very clear on his stance for the COVID-19 vaccine for kids.
Matthew posted a message to his Instagram Story after revealing in early November how he wanted to “find out more information” before supporting any requirements that young children get the shot.
“When asked my opinion on the subject of children and vaccination mandates I stated, ‘I couldn’t mandate it for kids just yet.’ What was not clear is that I was referring specifically to the 5-11 year old mandate,” he explained.

He concluded by saying “I appreciate the ear and clarity,” telling his followers to “just keep livin’.”
On Tuesday, during The New York Times‘s DealBook summit, the actor shared that while he supported the science behind the vaccine, he wasn’t ready to push it on his kids just yet.
“We just said we can vaccinate kids. I want to trust in the science,” McConaughey shared. McConaughey continued, saying: “Do I think that there’s any kind of scam or conspiracy theory? Hell no I don’t. We all got to get off that narrative. There’s not a conspiracy theory on the vaccines.”
“Right now, I’m not vaccinating [my young children], I’ll tell you that.”
