After Ezra Blount’s father spoke out about the injuries he sustained while attending Travis Scott’s Astroworld Festival, the 9-year-old is reported to have passed away. As Mamas Uncut previously reported, the young boy was trampled as he watched his favorite performers on stage.
Ezra’s father, Treston Blount, told People that he had been in a medically induced coma since the November 5 concert. Sadly, Treston admitted that he and his little boy made the conscious decision to stand further away from the stage knowing that standing room concerts can “get a little wild.”
9-Year-Old Ezra Bloung Becomes the Youngest Victim to Pass Away Following Travis Scott’s Astroworld Festival
“We were in the back, way in the back, and I figured, ‘Okay, this is cool,’ ’cause the front can get a little wild,” Treston told People. But despite their best efforts to stay safe, the pressure from the surging crowd was too much for Ezra and as he sat on his father’s shoulders, he passed out and fell to the ground where he was trampled.
“I could tell that he was damaged,” Treston said. “I’m not ready to lose my boy at all. We still got a bunch of living to do … That’s my boy.”
Sadly, Ezra passed away as a result of his devastating injuries. An attorney for the Blount family issued a statement to people following the 9-year-old’s tragic passing.
“The Blount family tonight is grieving the incomprehensible loss of their precious young son. This should not have been the outcome of taking their son to a concert, what should have been a joyful celebration. Ezra’s death is absolutely heartbreaking. We are committed to seeking answers and justice for the Blount family. But tonight we stand in solidarity with the family, in grief, and in prayer.”

As Mamas Uncut previously reported, a young 14-year-old boy named John Hilgert was initially reported as the youngest victim to have died as a result of the chaos that took place at the festival. Sadly, that is no longer the case.
“He was stoked. He was ready to go,” Blount shared in a recent interview. “When I found out that he was a big fan [of Travis Scott], I was like, “Oh yeah, we gotta go, we gotta go see Travis live.”
Ezra’s family has since filed a lawsuit against Travis Scott citing “gross negligent conduct.” The lawsuit also revealed that Ezra was “kicked, stepped on, and trampled, and nearly crushed to death” at the Astroworld festival.
In a separate interview with People, Ezra’s grandfather, Bernon Blount, revealed that Ezra and his father often attended concerts. It was their father and son bonding time.
“Once my son saw that the concert was going to happen here in Houston, he bought the tickets months ago,” Bernon said. “It came off as it was going to be a family event, so my son thought that it would be a safe venue for them to come and enjoy together and bond as father and son.”
Ezra is the 10th person who attended Travis Scott’s Astroworld Festival to die after sustaining injuries. Our hearts and prayers are with all of the families that have been affected.
A GoFundMe has been set up to help Ezra’s family.
