Even Reese Witherspoon has questions about the social media platform that’s all the rage. The multi-hyphenate star recently asked her 15-year-old son Deacon Phillippe to explain what TikTok is all about — with hilarious results.

Reese, who posted the video of her social lesson with Deacon on Instagram, asked him to explain TikTok and got a typical teenager response. “Oh, god,” he responded.
But he quickly summed up what TikTok is, saying it’s a “short-form video platform for kids” that can use music and dancing to make short, shareable videos.
Reese asks Deacon to help her make a video on TikTok, though he doesn’t appear thrilled with the idea. His mom tests out some TikTok video options, trying out different dance moves to the embarrassment of Deacon who says, unconvincingly, “You look pretty cool.”

At one point near the end, after a particularly mom-looking dance, Deacon turns to the camera and motions for them to cut, his face full of delightful teenage embarrassment.
At the end of the video, Reese seems to have gotten a flair for TikTok, including several fun videos she posted to the platform.
And now, thanks to Reese Witherspoon and son, we finally know what TikTok is! Mission accomplished! We feel like we really understand it now… but don’t expect us to start posting TikToks anytime soon.
