When it comes to singer Ed Sheeran’s private life, he prefers to keep it just that, private. However, in an interview with Radio 1’s Big Weekend, Sheeran gave his fans a little sneak peek into what his life looks like as a new dad.
Sheeran married his longtime love, Cherry Seaborn, in a top-secret wedding in January 2019. A year and a half later, in August 2020, Sheeran and Seaborn became parents for the first time after welcoming a baby girl into the world.

Ed Sheeran and his wife named their bundle of joy Lyra Antarctica. And just like that, Lyra is already 9 months old.
And while Sheeran may be smitten with his baby girl, his baby girl isn’t so much smitten with his…sing! GASP!
Unlike Carrie Underwood’s youngest, Jacob, who acted like this when his mom would sing:
According Sheeran, Lyra cries when he sings! Who would have thought, a Grammy winner with a daughter who hates his singing!
“I definitely spent hours and hours in front of the mirror pretending to be essentially what I am now. Practice makes perfect,” Sheeran said in his interview. “Now I’ll sing [my new songs] to my daughter, who’s not my biggest fan. She just cries!”
But don’t worry, while his new stuff may not be up to par for his biggest critic, she does like some of his older stuff, Sheeran admitted. The classics, some would say.
“No, I’ve got some she likes,” he admitted. “She really likes ‘Shape of You.’ The marimba sound is good, but she doesn’t like anything loud or anything belt-y.”
We wonder if that means Lyra likes the song her daddy wrote for her mommy called “Perfect,” which has quickly become the first dance song in a long line of weddings?
