Divorced Couple And 18-Year-Old Die In ‘Murder-Suicide,’ Their Wounded 12-Year-Old Survives After Escaping To Neighbors

A divorced couple and their 18-year-old daughter were discovered dead in an apparent murder-suicide but their 12-year-old daughter was able to flee from the scene.

According to Arizona police, Ruben Sanchez, 51; his ex-wife Ana Guerra, 49; and their 18-year-old daughter Amy Sanchez were discovered dead at a home in Mesa, Arizona.

Thankfully, Andrea Sanchez, 12, fled to a neighbors house and the 911 was called.

Officials have not yet released the name of who they believe the shooter to be.

Detective Brandi George said officers responded to the home in Mesa around 8:30 p.m. last Monday, AZ Family reported.

Sanchez and Guerra, who police said were just recently divorced were found lying on the first floor of the home among large amounts of blood. Their teenage daughter, Amy, was found on the second floor.

All three had gunshot wound and investigators discovered a handgun and ammunition in the house.

“[This] tragic incident appears to be a case of murder-suicide,” George said last Tuesday.

George continued on, saying how the girl who ran from the house suffered a gunshot wound to the wrist.

A neighbor who called 911 emergency said they grabbed the girl as she approached their home.

“We pulled her into our front porch, sat her down because she was bleeding really good,” the neighbor said. “And then we heard a gunshot, so we grabbed her, pulled her inside the house… continued to stay on [with] 911.”

The events that led to the shooting were unclear. Marco Sanchez, an uncle of Andrea, said the girl is “strong.”

“She’s surrounded by good friends and family and hopefully we’ll pull her through,” Sanchez said.

The girl was shot in the arm and was believed to have suffered a concussion. She underwent surgery last Tuesday and does not remember what happened, Sanchez said.

Sanchez said his brother, Ruben, went through a difficult divorce from Guerra about a year ago, but no one expected violence.
