A Pennsylvania couple has been accused of lying about being pregnant and subsequently losing their son shortly after his birth. The couple had set-up a GoFundMe page to raise money after their loss, but police allege their son never existed in the first place. Police now believe the couple is guilty of faking their child’s birth and death using a doll.
Kaycee Lang, 23, and Geoffrey Lang, 27, were charged last week with theft and deception after they allegedly faked the birth and death of their son, according to reports from WTAE, WIBW and the Pittsburg Post-Gazette.

The couple allegedly claimed their son, “Easton Walt Lang,” was born at Conemaugh Health System in Johnstown, PA on July 3. They claimed that he died only hours later.
They went so far as to share images of “Easton” on Facebook and then started a GoFundMe page asking for donations to pay for a personalized urn. It turns out the image they shared was of a doll.
Police were notified to investigate after a friend of the couple, Cynthia Dilascio, found Kaycee’s claims suspicious because she didn’t show signs of being pregnant. Cynthia did, though, host a baby shower for Kaycee and Geoffrey. At around seven months pregnant, Kaycee claimed she was on bed rest and stopped seeing friends.
Kaycee told Cynthia that her son had passed away from respiratory distress syndrome, but Cynthia didn’t believe her. She called the funeral home where they claimed he was being cremated, but they had no record of him.
Cynthia confronted her friend, but she denied any wrongdoing.
Police were ultimately unable to find any record of Kaycee’s pregnancy or either the birth or death of her son.
GoFundMe will be refunding all the money donated, a total of $550.
Kaycee and Geoffrey are scheduled to appear in court in October.
