We’ve all been there before. You sit down at a restaurant with your children, excited to enjoy a meal, and a meltdown ensues. Well, celebrities aren’t immune from dining out drama! Actress and Booksmart director Olivia Wilde decided to take her two young children, whom she shares with her husband Jason Sudeikis, out for a meal. Unfortunately, her hungry and cranky son Otis Alexander, 5, lost it in public.
Wilde recapped the relatable event on Twitter, saying, “Couple days ago my kid was having a level 10, defcon 1, couldn’t-control-his-body meltdown at a restaurant. It happens. Poor guy was hungry as hell and overwhelmed. I was holding four bags and my 2 yr old. It was chaos.”
“The place was packed and we were very much on display,” she continued. “I was in way over my head. I stayed calm but I was kind of crumbling inside. In the midst of the madness, 2 strangers, a young man and woman, approached and asked if they could help.”
We can relate to this mama’s reluctance to ask for help, but as we all know, this motherhood business truly takes a village.
“I swallowed my pride and said yes, please, and they walked with us, placed my stuff into my trunk, and even put my daughter in her car seat, while I tried to soothe my son. I thanked them and they said, ‘hey no problem. We all have days like this.’”
It’s always nice to hear stories about the kindness of strangers, and this also serves as a good reminder to take help where you can get it. There’s no shame in accepting help, especially from those who want to give it.
