Marlen Ochao-Lopez, 19, was killed in April after Clarisa Figueroa, 46, tricked the expectant mom into coming to her house under the pretense of giving her free baby clothes. Figueroa strangled Ochao-Lopez with a cable and then cut the baby from her womb.
After Ochao-Lopez’s family horrific ordeal, they are now being billed $300,000 by the Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, the family’s attorney shared with People. In addition to the blatantly incorrect charge, the hospital mistakenly called the baby “Figueroa, boy” after the mother’s murderer.

After killing Ochao-Lopez, Figueroa allegedly called 911 saying she had just delivered the baby boy and he was not breathing. She was rushed to the hospital where they cared for the baby. The baby, Yovanny Jadiel Lopez, passed away on June 14 from injuries he sustained after being cut from his mother’s body.
The hospital shared a statement with People, saying it has “had discussions with the family regarding inadvertent billing and we regret this error.”
The family’s attorney, Frank Avila, shared with People, “It’s atrocious, it’s horrible. It’s hard for me to understand the lack of humanity.”
Figueroa has been charged with first-degree murder. Her daughter, Desiree Figueroa, 24, was also charged in the death, according to The Sun Times. Both women were denied bail. Desiree’s boyfriend, Piotr Bobak, 40, has also been charged with one felony count of concealment of a homicide.
