Mom-of-three Kourtney Kardashian is committed to living a healthy lifestyle, and she teaches her kids the importance of healthy choices as well. In a recent blog post on her wellness site, Poosh, Kardashian wrote about pushing for healthier school lunch options at her kids’ schools, how she works in big and small ways to help the environment, and how she handles speaking up in the hopes of inspiring others.
Kardashian wrote, “It’s common knowledge these days that food is fuel. When it comes to my kids’ schools, seeing what kind of meals and snacks are provided can be unsettling … processed foods, less than fresh, inorganic produce, etc. But as moms, it’s in our power to raise some awareness and rally for healthier options.”

Kardashian didn’t like the food the school was serving and shared her concerns with the principal. She notes that she’s continued to speak up about issues around healthy food, as well as the environment, including the type of milk the school is serving and their use of single-use plastic.
In addition to speaking up herself, she suggested creating a pledge that the kids and teachers can commit to or creating a petition. “Dialogue picks up momentum and momentum stirs change,” she said.
Kourtney Kardashian Faces Backlash
Unfortunately for Kardashian, not everyone took her message to heart. Many commenters took the opportunity to call Kardashian out for alleged hypocrisy, with one saying, “The irony of fighting against single use plastic when using a stretch SUV to take children to a birthday party.”
Another commenter said, “That family should at least donate better lunches for schools. Instead of buying their infants $20k handbags.”
“She can’t ask her nanny to pack a healthy lunch for the kids,” another disgruntled commenter added. “I’m confused.”
Kourtney’s Crusade
Not one to let the haters affect her life, Kardashian continues to teach her young children — Mason, Reign, and Penelope — to be aware of their impact on the environment, both through talking to them directly and teaching by example. “While making sure my kids minimize their own footprint, I also like to let them hear me speak to restaurants that we go to about changing some of their wasteful practices. Encourage your local smoothie shop to do away with plastic straws, or your favorite dinner spot to opt for to-go packaging made from corn and other biodegradable materials.”
Kardashian also shared some of the reusable items she loves to use, including Stashers snack baggies and beeswax food wraps.
Kardashian ended the post by saying, “I practice using my voice in my community in an effort to make improvements in our environment and health, and I truly feel like bringing my kids into the mission is the legacy I can leave behind. So if you feel small, speak up. Our voices are big.”
