While simply going to get the mail, a nine-year-old boy has died in Arkansas after allegedly being mauled to death by Pitbulls.
Identified by a family friend as Robby Taylor, the boy was reported missing at 9:15 a.m. on Thursday from his home in Mount Vernon, according to a press release by the Faulkner County Sheriff’s Office.
According to Taylor’s mother, he had gone outside to check the mail but did not return.
And when the boy did not return after what was supposed to be a quick trip to the mailbox — his mother went looking for him but was unable to locate him.
The mother then said she saw multiple dogs running from a field near her home, and Taylor was later found dead from “an apparent dog attack,” the sheriff’s office reported.
While no arrests were made, investigators who responded to the scene questioned two people in connection to the dog mauling.
The Conway Animal Shelter took custody of two dogs from a home off Chambers Lane.
Pending the outcome of the investigation, the animals will be quarantined.
According to the description of a GoFundMe campaign launched by a family friend, both animals were pit bulls, despite police not releasing information about the dogs.
“Robby was walking to the mailbox at his home in Mount Vernon and was attacked by 2 loose pit bulls that ended up taking his life,” the woman, who described herself as the mother’s best friend, wrote. “His family will forever be at a loss and changed from this horrible tragedy.”
The fundraiser (as of June 4th) has raised over $21,000 in donations. The boy is survived by this parents and two siblings.
