Allen Family ABC13

A Houston family mourns the loss of 5-year-old Jordan Allen Jr. who was killed by a stray bullet on March 31. The family was enjoying time together on their balcony and Jordan had been making TikTok videos with his father, Jordan Allen Sr. when tragedy struck.

Allen Sr. had stepped inside the family’s home after his son requested some juice when he heard five to six gunshots followed by his son crying for help. Allen returned to the second-floor balcony and discovered that his 5-year-old had been struck in the head by a stray bullet. The incident occurred around 9 PM in the 8500 block of Richmond Avenue near Dunvale in southwest Houston.

Police believe the boy was not the intended target.

“Everybody ran in the house and the kids’ room in the house,” Jordan’s father explained to ABC13. “So I ran to the porch, and then I see my son on the ground holding his head asking for my help.”

The shooter sped away shortly after the slaying and Allen rushed his son to Texas Children’s Hospital for medical care. According to the Harris County Institute of Forensic Science, the child held on to life for a few days before he died on Friday, April 3.

The police concluded that the child was not the intended target.

Initially, authorities had no suspects in the child’s murder, but that quickly changed.

The day after the shooting, the Houston Police Department released a statement, “Officers recovered multiple casings in the parking lot near where the child was shot and several cars were damaged from possible gunfire.”

“At this time, there are no known witnesses or suspects,” the statement concluded.

On April 7, ABC13 reported that the police were searching for three persons of interest in the killing: Shapree Monique Stoneham, 29, Khalisah Smith, 18, and Alexis Moshae Gore, 22. The police stressed that the three women are not charged at this time.

Houston Police say the investigation is ongoing.
