Shocking Video Shows 3-Year-Old Almost Drowning in Apartment Pool After Her Inner Tube Flips Over and Pins Her Under

3-Year-Old Almost Drowns in Pool

It goes without saying that water safety is imperative, especially during warmer months when families are more frequently at the pool or beach. Even with a vigilant eye, traumatic drowning accidents can still happen. For example, just last week, country singer Granger Smith’s three-year-old son died in a drowning accident at the family’s home in Texas. And last month, a family in Georgia experienced a terrifying scare when their 3-year-old almost drowned in their apartment pool.

Ten-year-old Jayla Dallis heroically saved her sister, three-year-old Kali, from a drowning accident in their apartment complex pool. Jayla was caught on camera jumping into the pool to rescue her sister, who had been floating in an inner tube when she flipped over. Kali was pinned underwater by the toy and could not get out from under. Jayla, who had been playing in the opposite end of the pool, quickly went over to the shallow end to help her get out.

A witness called 911 while Jayla and Kali’s aunt and the apartment operations manager performed CPR.

Police Sgt. Ed Lyons responded to the call, which was captured on his body camera. He assisted with CPR and can be heard in the video saying, “There you go! Keep blowing it out! We’ve got a definite pulse.”

Kali was taken to the local hospital in critical condition. After two weeks in the hospital, she was able to return home healthy and happy. Her mom told WSB-TV, “It’s amazing. It’s a miracle. Don’t take your eyes off of them. All the floats are not safe. Be careful. Watch your kids.” WSB-TV provides raw footage of the incident.

So remember to be extra cautious this summer in and around pools, because it does happen that quickly. We’re glad Kali is safe, and we hope you and your kids are safe all summer, too.
