This Amazing Three-Year-Old Started a Lemonade Stand to Raise Money for Babies in Need

A three-year-old girl in North Carolina recently turned lemons into the best kind of lemonade, launching a lemonade stand business to help those in need in their community.

Ava Lewis and her mom, Maggie, set up a lemonade stand in front of Maggie’s hair salon, The Lather Lounge. Customers didn’t just buy cups of lemonade though; they were buying gallons.

Ava launched the lemonade business to raise money to buy diapers and bottles for babies in need, and she has already reached her goal. Earlier this month, Ava and her mom delivered boxes of baby wipes and diapers to the Good Samaritan Inn, which is run by the Durham Rescue Mission.

“It just means the world to us to see a young person … that is thinking of others,” said Good Samaritan Inn director Gail Mills. “And is selling her lemonade to have the funds to buy the diapers and the wipes — it just makes my day. Such a heartwarming experience to meet little Ava and to see how her mother is teaching her at such a young age to care for others and to share her blessing with people who are having a hard time.”

Maggie shared that she and Ava are now recognized when they go out in public. They call her “the lemonade baby,” she told ABC 11. Beyoncé would be proud.

The world could use more Ava Lewises! That said, there’s nothing stopping us from starting a lemonade stand to raise money for those in need, so maybe we should get to it…
