Having twins is such a rare occurrence and many families don’t get to experience the certain type of joy they bring. In fact, for every 1,000 births, only 33 of them will be twins. If you’re pregnant then your chances of having twins are about 3 in 100. According to new data collected and reviewed by What to Expect, twin births have increased by 75% over the last 30 years.
The research shows that certain factors increase your likelihood of giving birth to twins. If you’ve already had twins, you are more likely to be pregnant with them again. If you’re an older mom, you’re more likely to have twins. Women over the age of 35-years-old produce more follicle-stimulating hormones that may cause an additional egg to drop at ovulation. If you’ve been pregnant before or have undergone fertility treatments, you’re more likely to have twins as well.
But what about celebrity parents? It seems like a lot of celebrities are parents to twins. Why is that? Could it be that celebrity moms wait later in life to have kids? Or are celebrity moms more likely to receive fertility treatments? There’s been no definitive study, of course. But, it’s interesting to think about. We decided to do some digging to find out which celebrities are parents to twins. We compiled a surprising list of 20 celebrity parents who are actually twinning.
