“I am pregnant with no support system: Advice?
I’m 15 weeks pregnant and I have absolutely nothing I need, no support. The father is still with me, but he’s not able to do much since his leg is broken and he can’t walk or carry anything really. He has to go to rehab for 8 months.
I’m due in October and I’m terrified because my biggest fear is I’ll be told that, since I have high blood pressure, that I’m going to go on bed rest and have preeclampsia. It runs in my family. I’m so scared I’m going to lose this child. I’ve already had so many miscarriages. I just don’t know what to do. I have to find a place to live within 2-3 months, and right now I have no money because everything I have has gone to bills and stuff I needed.”

Advice Summary

“Try local state help and low-income housing.”
“Seek state assistance for now.”
“Call your local Social Services in the morning, and look in the phone book (you can find it online) for places that support pregnancies. No, not an abortion clinic. You’re not due for a while. Also check your local Facebook market place for baby stuff. Post that you need stuff. Also the Salvation Army and local churches. Check all of these places. You’re not alone. Please try to stay calm, it’s better for the baby. Where are you located? Maybe another mom is close to you and can help. There’s help, you just need to know where to look.”
“Time to find some public healthcare options. You have some time to change things around, you may need to change your diet as much as possible, drink more water, and try different techniques for stress relief. I was stressed about money and just having a baby when I fell pregnant but I did my research early as to how I can help myself. It’s not easy but not impossible! You have different mountains to mine but I took one step at a time. I used the market place for things I needed as well as to speak to people you may know… someone’s relative or friend must have had a baby and is willing to sponsor some clothes. Also start buying a pack of diapers when you can. A few Stage 1 and the rest can be Stage 2/3! I used a list found on baby and mom pages to tick off all my needs. I hope this gives you a little hope!”
“Take a deep breath, and tackle one thing at a time. The high blood pressure, if you have it your doctors will monitor you very closely. They will order 24 hr urine to make sure proteins aren’t being spilled in your urine. I am pregnant with baby number 3 and it has always been an issue for me. Nothing to overstress about. Signs to look for in high blood pressure are spots floating in front of your eyes, headache, dizziness, and shortness of breath. Also, they may put you on baby aspirin which I am also on I take it once a day no biggy. Check with the government assistance office if you haven’t already you can get insurance thru the state, also I get that as well and the one I have here is a program where a nurse calls me monthly checks in on me and at the end, I can get a car seat stroller or pack and play. Also, ask your doc if they know any doc offices that give you pack and plays. Lung specialists in my area do this after you have a baby. Get on WIC; it can help with some items now like milk and eggs and fruits, then switch to formula when the baby is born. Check out Facebook yard sale sites or mom sites. Us mothers are always going thru clothes and either giving away or selling for cheap. Post something on Facebook in need of baby items. You will get through this. One day at a time, you still have a while to go yet.”
