Mom Speaks Out Against Her Family’s Reactions to Her Daughter Coming Out to Them

One mom is standing up for her daughter after she came out as gay and was not accepted by their other family members. The protective mama took to the Reddit community to share her feelings about some of their family member’s hurtful words towards her daughter.

In the public post, the 10-year-old’s mom says that she was filled with pride when her child courageously came out to her. “A few weeks ago, she identified herself as lesbian,” the mom wrote in her post. “I have always kind of known, so it was no surprise. I cried happy tears and hugged her.”

The young girl splits her time between her mother and father’s separate homes and attends a Christian school. Instead of being supportive, some family members took the opportunity to discredit the child, saying that she is “too young” and “might outgrow it.”

Her mom goes on to share that the girl had a strong reaction to their feedback and has since gone back on what she had originally believed to be her truth. “Her dad questioned her so much that she eventually just said, ‘never mind’ and told him she was straight,” she wrote. “Now, she has fabricated a story to tell her whole family. She is telling them all that she has a crush on George and she is straight.”
