The reality of the situation is thus: Most of us are stuck at home right now. Whether we’re working from home, tending to kids who are no longer in school, or just chilling and watching Netflix, most of us are in a similar boat. It sucks! But it can suck a little less.
Taking care of yourself during this time is important, and so is finding a way to destress and relax. It’s even important to find joy and entertainment when we can. All of this is harder when you can’t leave home, and it’s especially difficult if you have kids running around, pets making messes, spouses not pulling their weight, etc. But it’s worth making time for yourself, if you can.

We’ve rounded up 10 products you can order from Amazon that will make life at home feel less stressful, more fun, and maybe even a little luxurious (without the price tag of true luxury). Try a few of these products out — or better yet, try all of them! You may never want quarantine to end.
1. Amazon Kindle Paperwhite ($129.99)
Reading a book is a time-tested way of relaxing and escaping your immediate surroundings. Amazon’s beloved Kindle Paperwhite is an e-reader, but due to its e-ink technology, it is as close to reading an actual book as you can get without, you know, reading an actual book. The benefit to this is you can read what you want how you want, but you save some shelf space (and a little money). Use the Paperwhite to find and buy books you want to read, download them, and then find a quiet corner to enjoy a new book or an old favorite.
2. Amazon Fire HD 8 Kids Edition Tablet ($129.99)
While we don’t advocate plopping your kids down in front of a screen without restriction for the duration of this quarantine, we do think, for most kids, having some kind of device to entertain them with games, videos, and more every now and again is a smart idea. The Amazon Fire Kids Edition Tablet series has great parental controls, a plethora of fun and educational apps, and affordable protective gear to keep your kids’ from accidentally damaging their tech.
3. An Essential Oil Diffuser ($39.95)
Turn your home into the sweet-smelling oasis you want it to be. Use it to make your home smell nice, use it to diffuse scents like lavender that are said to be calming and that some say promote better sleep. Use it as a novelty mood light, as it has a clever LED function. Use it for whatever you want, but we think once you get one, you’re never going to want to live without one again. Bringing natural scents into a home the entire family can’t leave probably can’t hurt anything.
4. Drunk Elephant B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Serum ($48.00)
Self-care means different things to different people. For some, skincare is a great way to actively take care of your body. Drunk Elephant, the well-liked (though a bit expensive) skincare brand, offers many products that will allow you to take care of your body’s biggest organ and maybe feel a little pampered in the process. Whether you’re into skincare or not, though, everyone should be moisturizing, which is why we recommend this Drunk Elephant B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Serum – Anti Wrinkle Serum for All Skin Types. Trust us; your skin will thank you in both the short run and the long run.
5. O’Keeffe’s Working Hands Cream ($10.95)
Most of us are washing our hands more thoroughly and frequently than we ever have before, and while that’s necessary, there is a side effect: Terribly dry hands. O’Keeffe’s Working Hands will help restore moisture to your dried out appendages, so you can skip over dry, flaky skin while remaining properly sanitized.
6. Light Therapy Lamp ($37.99)
Being trapped indoors, for many, means no sunlight. Or a lot less than we’re used to, anyway. It sucks in general, especially as we head into summer, but it actually has negative health effects. A light therapy machine (sometimes called a SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) lamp) delivers an artificial version of sunlight that can help combat depression and other mental and physiological health issues.
7. A Blu-Ray Player ($84.95)
Maybe you have some old workout DVDs that you wish you could use while you can’t go to the gym. Maybe you want to bust out your old FRIENDS DVD set because it currently isn’t streaming anywhere. Maybe you want to throw on a movie for the kids in order to give yourself some downtime. Any way you cut it, it’s smart to have a Blu-Ray player in the house. In addition to playing Blu-Ray discs, they also play DVDs. And most of the machines these days also allow you to use streaming media apps such as Netflix and Hulu. The best of all worlds!
8. A Weighted Blanket ($64.99)
Have you tried a weighted blanket yet? Originally developed for people with autism, these blankets have become a hot commodity for all sorts of people. The pressure they apply to your body when you are under one is said to help combat anxiety, which most of us are feeling these days. You can sleep with them or use them on the couch during Quarantine and Chill. Once you try it out, we doubt you’ll want to go back to regular old non-weighted blankets.
9. Bath Salts ($25.00)
If you need a moment away from the kids to decompress and relax, there’s likely no better option than a bath. (Just tune out the sound of your kids banging on the door…) Therefore, you probably need some bath salts to really bring the spa-at-home effect into full force. Luxuriate in it — the smells, the feeling, the experience — while you can.
10. A Good Book on Mindfulness (Emotional Alchemy by Tara Bennett-Goleman) ($17.99)
While most of us are focused on our physical health in the current climate, there is something to be said for turning inward and paying some attention to your mental and emotional health. A good book on mindfulness — we recommend Emotional Alchemy: How the Mind Can Heal the Heart by Tara Bennett-Goleman — can help you sort through some of your more difficult feelings and emotions, feel calmer and less anxious, and work towards a more stable, less- reactive mindset overall. And hey, if you got that Kindle, consider this our first book recommendation for you and your new device!
